Don't wanna stir up the commotion and flame war (even though I probably will just by creating this topic, but what's life without adrenaline), but according to those panels, wasn't Obito on guard when it comes to Itachi? I'm interested in elaborations and interpretations of those statements, mainly from people who twist the words from inside out.

They were obviously on a contract-type of relationship. Both were wary of one another and there was a "fear" or "risk" involved with both parties. This, however, clearly states it from Obito's side. Shoot.

Both were cautious of the other as they knew that they weren't "comrades" as such, but couldn't afford to do battle. Itachi made Obito agree that Konoha was completely off limits on the condition that he helped with the massacre and Itachi joined Akatsuki. Obito couldn't decline Itachi as he needed the manpower for Akatsuki.

I'd also like to add due to the new edited first scan.

The "deal" was null and void as soon as Itachi died at the hands of the battle with Sasuke and both were aware of that fact. Itachi set up the countermeasure for Sasuke's protection and to try and kill Obito as he knew once he was dead Konoha was no longer "off limits" to Obito. This goes without saying that Obito WOULD be dead if Itachi had known more about him. One can conclude that Itachi had knowledge of Obito's intangibility so the "secret(s)" was likely Izanagi, and Hashirama's DNA.

Exactly. But if Obito thought he could have gotten rid of Itachi and have Konoha "on limits", he would have. He suspected it wouldn't come out pretty, which is why they came up to symbiotic type of relationship.

Just waited for this kind of response from you, which doesn't have anything to do with the topic. In that panel, Obito talks about Itachi's goal as a whole. It doesn't have anything to do with his superiority. Cleared it for you.

Agreed. Obito couldn't do as he pleased entirely without Itachi being gone. Logical conclusion at best would be that there would be extreme difficulty getting rid of him, which is why he made the contract-type relationship. Seeing as Obito could potentially be invincible with Kamui, that obviously wasn't the case.

Yes, they were both forced to work with each other for their own plans to work out. It was as you said a "contract-type" relationship.

Or he could have destroyed the village once again after Minato was dead and Naruto was still baby
Obito never showed any intrest in destroying the leaf and the reason why Obito said "Konoha is offlimits" was because now he has no reason to keep his promise

And yet Obito states the village being "open" now. He obviously cared about it enough to state that once Itachi was gone. It's not a matter of "want", it's a matter of "can" or "can't".

But the village was already destroyed at the time via Pain and Itachi is not the only reason why Obito couldnt destroy the village...unlike Pain,1MS Obito cannot take on an entire village since he would at some point loose since Kakashi would figure out Kamui and the village would destroy Obito...

It's irrelevant whether Itachi was the only reason. This is the twisting I was talking about. Obito knew that if he made a move while Itachi was alive, he would get in his way. Which is precisely why he mentions it.

It's not just about Obito attacking the whole of Konoha, it's involving himself with it; taking action against it, it's people, etc.

Or Obito could have sent the Akatsuki to destroy the leaf and if Itachi tried to stop them,Nagato would rape...

Why are you posting fanfiction in a thread discussing their relationship? You have a dislike for Itachi, we get it.

What does Nagato have to do with this topic?
