Naruto understood Obito and why he was being an *******. Obito was mislead and self deluded, Naruto knew this was the reason he killed his friends. Naruto was willing to look past his mistakes because he knew the REAL Obito wouldn't have done that, that was the false Obito. The REAL Obito was nothing but awesome, Naruto saw the FALSE Obito that killed Neji as an entirely different person. Obito knew it was his mistake and he wanted to pay for it and didn't accept any of the forgiveness, he would agree with the people who say Naruto was being too forgiving and naive. But that isn't the point, Obito DID change and realize he messed up and needed to die, Naruto just wanted to save everyone but some are beyond saving like Obito. Obito wanted to be Hokage and his life was lived however wrongly in order to Shepard the world towards a better existence, Naruto relates to that he relates to wanting to help everyone so to him that makes the REAL Obito that he believed Zetsu was mocking "nothing but awesome".

Naruto told Obito to go back and accept punishment, Obito felt as if that wouldn't be enough so he tried to redeem himself by self-sacrifice.

Naruto never truly forgave him, it's just that he saw that Obito had changed, and didn't feel the need to 'hate him'. He still wanted to punish him.

Obito accepted the consequences for his actions by sacrificing himself.

Yea pretty much.
I closely evaluate characters fighting style and abilities.
Which is why Uchihas spike my interest in terms of raw power and talent.

But I do like Tobirama's personally. He's smart/logical and thinks things through a rational perspective and not like an idiot putting their emotions before anything.

In a realistic standpoint, naruto thanked Obito sincerely for changing back to a caring person and for saving Naruto's life as well. (Realistically)
People hate Obito manly because he changed and threw away everything he accomplished.
