Looking back on the series I came to this conclusion;

There wasn't nearly enough death/untimely demises of main/side characters throughout the series.

Sasuke Retrieval Arc was the first slip up I think - someone should have bitten the dust there. Preferably Kiba Inuzuka, he's a redundant character and incredibly annoying, a bit like Naruto... only without the cute whiskers and the angsty tragic backstory that breeds tolerance in the presence of pity.

Choji Akimichi as well - I wouldn't have minded it too much if he snuffed it either.

Might Guy - should have died, his sacrifice is all the more less epic and loses that glossy veneer when Naruto FUBARs the plot and saves his ass.

Any suggestions?

Is there anyone you think that should have died?

A character you would have liked to have killed off?

Or perhaps you disagree with my sacrificial offerings of Kiba, Choji and Guy?

Not including people from the past and irrelevant fodders. We had deaths of Asuama, Jman, Itachi, Kisame, zabuza, Haku, Neji who else I left out? Story was not diverse to have lot of deaths in war arc, which I think it needed. But then again Kishi is not GRRM.

I somewhat agree.

There were plenty of times Kishi could, and should have killed off a character who no longer had any reason to be in the manga, yet pussied out for nothing.

Gai is the only character that comes to mind who was really saved by BS.

I would of liked to see other deaths, of course.

I hope they kill off some of the next generation brats. Especially the one's who don't get any screen time.

I don't see a problem with who died and the amount and honestly I'm happy Kishi isn't like some of these other mangaka who are way too trigger happy with killing off characters for pure shock value and doesn't move the plot whatsoever.

Most of my favourite scenes from the manga and anime include characters dying or (more precisely) the impact that has on other characters. Love that angst :p

Ex:
  • Itachi Uchiha - *sniff*
  • Jiraiya - Epic death scene, went out in style. Plus points because it was his own students who killed him.
  • Kakashi Hatake - Had the reaction of "NOOOOOOO!". The only one I appreciate being revived.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi - emphasis on the kids becoming proper shinobi/adults.
  • Asuma Sarutobi - Good for the development of Shikamaru's character, the Ino-Shika-Cho team and brutal for Kurenai, though I'll admit it was bittersweet given how she and Asuma kept ***** footing around.
  • Haku Yuki - It kind of set the bar too high for the rest of the series I think.
  • Konan - I loved her last stand against Tobito.
  • Danzo Shimura - bit of a redemption theme. He's an utter bastard but I appreciate the way he went out.
  • Minato Namikaze & Kushina Uzumaki - epic.
  • Fugaku and Mikoto Uchiha - lacks the 'epic' feel the above had, but their stoic resignation - last words to Itachi... and Itachi cried :( And Fugaku's last request "Take care of Sasuke,", all had epic feels without the flashy jutsu and dramatic feats.... which was y'know, really nice. Made a nice change at least.

I don't recall any of the other jonin from Konoha dying - did they?
I mean Raido, Genma etc...

Overall - I would have liked it if someone else from the Konoha 11 had died.

Personally I see a heap of potential of taking the next generation story somewhere dark. I've had this idea for a while now, but of course it is only an idea.

I was thinking, what if they killed off a character? But then I had to pick which one, and why. So I thought back and realized that most sibling relationships end in some kind of conflict, or death. Madara/Izuna, Itachi/Sasuke, Sand siblings, Sai/(Forgot his brother's name), and so forth.

So I figured that killing off Himawari would be a crazy and interesting thing to do, because it would be so damn unexpected. It would impact the readers, and the characters of the story, because of how innocent and well known she is. But her death wouldn't directly stop the plot because of how un-involved she is.

Plus we would see characters differently. Her parents for instance, namely Naruto who is the Hokage, we would have to see him in a different light, as a parent who lost his daughter, and as a Hokage at the same time.

Just the death aspect of it can be pulled different ways, like them finding out she was murdered by the Mizukage, for instance. Maybe even starting a war.

Then there's the main character who is her brother, would have to deal with the loss of his sibling, and we could finally see a main character lose someone important like how Sasuke lost his family, and actually go through the transactions of loss, agony, revenge, and pain.

I wouldn't stop there though, if I was the author, I'd start targeting parents next :lol

Still I wanna see some blood. Bring on the gore! **** I don't even care who they kill off, just make it Berserk.

Heh. If Salad died... well, talk about kicking a dog when it's down. Poor Sasuke :D

Himawari is a good choice - central yet not vital. I'd be interested to see the impact it would have on Naruto.
