Not a valid image

It happens sometimes when I try to upload an image it says that it is not a valid image. I don't really get what I do wrong then. I took an image from one of my albums and tried to upload it but then that message pops up.
What am I doing wrong at that point, are the pictures too large or something?

I think he means uploading into an album on here not into a thread

Ow, sorry for the misunderstanding I have no problems with posting pictures in a thread.
I meant from albums on my computer, so my problem is posting pictures from my computer on my account.
