dude shinra tensei is the ability of the deva path. Madara has it, he has all the paths including summoning. If the kages were overwhelmed with PS and Mokuton how would akatsuki fair any better? The mokuton powder makes you fall asleep, sure maybe they may counter some of it but they can't destroy a whole forest.
If Nagato were to use shinra tensei at all, especially to counter a meteor....he'd kill the akatsuki himself.
If Sasori were to use poison gas, he might poison some of the akatsuki.
If deidara were to use his explosions on a grander scale he might kill some members too(just look at how he almost killed Tobi)
@bold: Look, your mistake is that you think Shinra Tensei affects everything around Nagato.That's not true, he can choose what he wants to repel, and what he wants to leave alone.

^He's literally using it inside the Chameleon, but still it doesn't get affected at all. Neither would the Akatsuki
Not to mention the fact that if he couldn't choose what to repel and what not, his clothes would get ripped off every time he uses Shinra Tensei xd
And Shinra Tensei would also help him shield the other Akatsuki from the Poison and the Large Scale Explosions. So your argument is pretty much invalid :y
OT: I kind of agree, but IMO there are two people who can beat them, and those are Edo Madara and Kabuto.
Edo Madara is pretty much Nagato, Hashirama and EMS Madara put together in one, immortal body with endless chakra reserves. He would not
solo them, but he'd likely defeat them. I mean, how are the Akatsuki fighting against 25 Mokuton Clones ?
And Kabuto with his Edo army is pretty much unstoppable. Since I assume we're talking about ninjas in their prime, Kabuto has around 37 Edos at his side, which would be too much for anyone except the Sage himself.
Very nice thread however :y Hate it when people actually state that someone like Sasuke or Minato could solo the whole Akatsuki xd
