Based on the bottom panels and knowing Sasuke, he made a conscious decision to distance himself from his family for the sake of the mission.

Prepare yourselve for flash backs of Sakura begging Sasuke not to leave her AGAIN while she's pregnant and Sasuke telling her he can't sit idly by while a threat is out there.

And remember that bull shit excuse Minato gave for sacrificing himself and leaving Naruto an orphan? Something about there are things only mothers can teach kids and he'd might as well die too bc he couldn't measure up to Kushina as a parent anyway.....well...it seems Kishi really believes that....so prepare for Sasuke to say something along the lines of all Sarada needs is her mother so she can hold down the parenting while he protects the world from the shadows.

It's obvious based on Sakura's sad face and Sasuke's serious face. It's clear that they had a serious talk about this years ago and Sasuke was about to reiterate his determination to stick to his mission like, "No, I'm the one who should apologize....but as for me....like I told you before....I won't settle in the village until my mission is complete..."....or something along those lines.

Has peace lulled us into complacency as we saw with Naruto who got rusty? Is conflict a necessity for human advancement? How many schools of thought and technological advancements have spawned from conflict? What has driven us to enact change throughout history?

Is conflict a necessary part of humanity.

And ChouChou killed this chapter. She started to get annoying over the last few chapters, but I think Kishi has found a good balance by just giving her 1-3 panels.

Now that you mention it, what did Sakura need to "properly" tell Sarada anyway? Yea she called Sarada her "darling daughter", but while unlikely, it isn't impossible that she's not her biological daughter. I'm still open to the Karin theory, though I'm not holding my breath for it coming through.

Exactly. fear and self preservation drives us more than anything. We've subsequently developed all types of technology, skills, philosophies in response. It forces us to advance ourselves. I was reading a study the other day that suggested conflict helped the brain evolve throughout history. I really like this theme that Kishi is weaving in. Dude's deep when he wants to be.

We thought the Kaguya army and dimension jumping stuff were pointless but they turned out to be relevant in this story, so I'm holding on to faith that there was a point to all the drama beyond simply reuniting the Uchiha family and making Karin a red herring. He could've accomplished that in so many ways, yet he chose this route. But we shall see.

I think she accepted it, but she wasn't happy about it. Even if she didn't 'beg' him to stay, she probably some thing along the lines of 'why are you the one who has to go' or 'are you sure about this'....And I'm sure the last thing she expected was for him to be gone for 12 years without any apparent contact with her though.

And in the meeting with the kages, she wouldn't beg him to stay in that meeting. She was dealing with the shock of a threat greater than Kaguya.

But now we know they are married and he was in the village, and we know his reason for being away, so what's the point of it besides causing further mental turmoil for Sarada? It would only indicate that they needed Karin as some kind of as a surrogate mother, that doesn't help the plot in any way.

It is pretty much confirmed to be a red herring now, and not everyone fell for it in the first place so it's not a big deal.

Actually, you have a point. It could be that the Karin stuff was necessary to prompt Sarada to leave the village to find Sasuke....but...why go that route?....she already had angst about Sasuke's absence so he could've just had her leave the village to find him and leave Karin out of the equation.....

...take a moment to think like a writer....throwing Karin in the mix is for a reason....I'm not saying Karin is Sarada's mother (though I'm open to the possibility)....giving Sarada glasses is for a reason....giving Sarada shorts and leggings is for a reason....Sarada is a blend of all 3 of her possible parents.....Kishi did that for a reason....

.....what is the reason? Hell if I know....it could be just to screw with us like the NaruSaku moments.......or it might be for a better reason......just try not to dismiss the possibility that there's more to the story of Sarada's parentage.
