He even used to call it Chidori at one point.

No, they are the same identical jutsu. It was already explained in part 1 that Chidori is the actual name for the jutsu (meaning chirping of a thousand birds). Kakashi calls it Raikiri (meaning lightning blade) because he once used it to cut a bolt of lightening in half. Thats it. Thats all there is too it.

Guys....look at it like this and not name wise....

Sasuke has upgraded his "chidori" to lightning blade and above...he just calls it Chidori, just like his tsukuyomi. He calls it genjutsu sharingan.

Kakashi named his "chidori" lightning blade because he cut lightning (was never really confirmed), but so has sasuke, he can actually tame raw lightning, so hell yes he has the better lightning/jutsu.
Sasuke broke through the raikage's lightning armor, by that he has exceeded lightning blade lightning (<-lol)

Tamming Kirin was a dead give away, most people only go by the name chidori and lightning blade, I go by whats happened and the end results.

Exactly this. That means if both Kakashi and Sasuke output the same amount of chakra into raikiri and chidori respectively, raikiri will win. It's similar to a Fuuton: Rasengan vs Rasengan. As homie a few posts above explained U_U

So yes,there is a difference.

If sasuke used the raikiri instead of chidori during his fight with A then he would of dealt damage when he landed that direct hit on his chest but,the chakra in chidori wasn't as dense and sharp as the raikiri so it did little damage to A.
