I was expecting Asura's avatar tbh. Or is it because Naruto is holding back and might show it later? Naruto is still using Bijuu Dama that kinda got old in the War arc.

Only Ashura can pull that off, his body/senjustu came directly from the sage.

When Naruto had seven bijuu chakras, his avatar didn't change but his power did.

So even with all nine, he's still going to have the kyuubi avatar.

The only explanation I can find for this is that Naruto can shape the avatar in whichever form he wants, henceforth choosing Kurama.
