Kai

The Person under a Genjutsu can stop their Chakra Flow and Apply An Even Stronger power to disrupt the Flow of the Casters Chakra. Kai usually requires a Seal and has a Down Fall to it. This cannot be used when the Person is under Sharingan Genjutsu since the Opponent cannot move at all. This can also be done by an Unaffected Ninja by applying a Sudden Chakra Surge into the Affected Ninja. This Kai can break from D-S Rank Genjutsu.

Pain Release

This can be effective in Battles since you can release quick but the Downfall is that the user has to deal some damage to their body. Regarding the Ranks to break and how much Pain required, I would go with Noni as he stated. But I will change it a Little.

For Breaking D-Rank Genjutsu, Just a little Scratch
For Breaking C-B Rank Genjutsu, Stab your hand or Leg
For Breaking A-S Rank Genjutsu, Do a Long Scratch on your Hand or Leg (or) Deep Stab as Noni Stated

Full Body Surge

Well if the Person is under a Genjutsu, He can make his Chakra flow very rapid so that His Senses come back.
Can't think of the Techniques and the Detail of this Full Body Surge. An Unaffected Ninja applying Sudden Chakra Surge into an Affected One - Can it be considered as Full Body Surge?

Kai-When a ninja under genjutsu completely stops the flow of their chakra, then the tricky part is to Stop your opponents chakra as well, It can break most genjutsu however some of the stronger ones are out of reach for this jutsu.

Pain Release- This Method of releasing genjutsu requires you to inflict a .. considerable amount of pain onto yourself. It may be the quickest way to release a genjutsu but it most likely wont work on serious genjutsu's, I would assume that the more pain you inflict the greater the genjutsu it would release. This method has been showcased By
Sasuke Uchia
Shikamaru Nara
Most likely others, lol

Full Body Surge: This is the one that seems the most complex to me but i believe it is when you cause a great disturbance in ( no not the force) Your chakra, Causing The opponent to lose control over your chakra, The only time i can remember when this was used was in a filler episode lol.

This was indeed hard :/

1) Kai Release Method

( Genjutsu: Kai ) - Illusion Technique: Release
Rank: C-S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 15-40
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user does one hand seal to focus and then proceeds to disturb his chakra flow by forcefully stopping it momentarily and then "spiking" his spiritual energy, unbalancing his chakra. This dispels any genjutsu set upon the user except MS Eye Techniques, Paralysis-like Genjutsu and Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation Chant. The effectiveness of this technique is dependent upon the skill of the user. A Jounin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to C-rank. An S-class ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to B-rank. A Sannin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to A-rank. A Sage rank user can dispel Genjutsu up to S-Rank. The user may use this technique through physical contact on others to dispel them from Genjutsu. The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.

Using Kai to release Genjutsu is the simplest and arguably most common method. After performing a single handseal, the user will stop their chakra flow for a moment before spiking it to purge the opponent's foreign chakra from your body, hence releasing the illusionary technique. It can range from a C-Rank to an S-Rank technique, depending on the rank of the genjutsu you're trying to break. If an A-Rank Genjutsu is cast on you, you'll use an A-Rank Kai to release the technique. Keep in mind that even if you learn Kai, to break higher ranking genjutsus e.g. A-Ranks, you have to be of the right ninja rank (determined by posts). Like Sasuke56 correctly stated, it requires a single handseal to perform and so this technique can't be used against Genjutsus which paralyze/immobilize your body.

Other things to remember is, its a really uncreative method and some fights have rules stating either "one kai per battle" or "No Kai at all". Make sure to watch out for rules like this and don't become too dependent on using it. I don't think i've ever used Kai xD

2) Pain Release Method
Like you all correctly stated, Pain Release is the quickest but the most consequential of all Genjutsu Release methods. You can inflict this pain upon yourself in various ways e.g. removing a kunai to stab your arm or biting off your tongue. Usually people attempt to simply bite their tongue/the inside of their cheek but this seems like an invalid method.

1) Biting your tongue without removing it will break D-Rank Genjutsu at most
2) Biting off your tongue seems like a disgraceful/embarrassing method to use. Especially if you have to spit it out in front of your opponent. It will make them feel like they have the upper hand
3) The severe blood loss caused by biting off your tongue will give you about three turns to live (possibly less).
4) You can't talk anymore xD

And so as I say to all my students, never release a Genjutsu through biting off your tongue.

This is the chart of releasing genjutsus and the amount of pain you need to inflict on yourself:

D-Ranks: Biting your tongue or equivalent
C-Rank: Cutting yourself slightly e.g. piercing your skin with a kunai
B-Ranks: Small stab wound or equivalent
A-Ranks: You need to stab/inflict serious harm to a limb or equivalent
S-Ranks: You need to lose limb or inflict equivalent pain

Another nice way I learnt from Better to release Genjutsus is using the C-Rank Stone Spikes technique. When you realize a Genjutsu, whether it paralyzes you or not, channel your doton chakra into the ground and cause a single spike of earth to emerge. Angle the spike the depending on how much pain you want to inflict.

(Doton: Ganchūsō) - Earth Release: Stone Spikes
Rank: C
Type: Attack
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: This technique lets the user create a few rock pillars that will protrude from the ground to skew the target. The rock pillars will even pass through obstacles to reach their target

If you're breaking a A-Rank or below gen, angle the spike to strike into your thigh or another part of your non-dominant leg.

If you're breaking S-Rank gen (and have no other options), angle the spike to emerge directly beneath one of your legs, to completely crush it up to the knee region. This will keep you standing up and block blood from gushing out of your body.

This method inflicts serious harm on to you and is only recommended if you have no other options. Sometimes this is the best method to use and so its better to take many wounds rather than fail to counter a Genjutsu. Also, this isn't a possible method to use when you're standing on water or a similar terrain. If you have a bio which can heal or take such wounds e.g. Hidan, Kakuzu, a medical shinobi, using Pain to release genjutsu is very tactical indeed. You don't waste a move countering one of their techniques by making full use of your bio's capabilities.

3) Full body surges
A full body surge is basically a technique which releases/leeks chakra out of every chakra point on your body at the same time. This sudden burst of chakra purges any foreign chakra residing in the body. A full body surge will break Genjutsu of one rank lower than it e.g. an A-Rank Surge breaks B-Rank and below Genjutsus. New rpers often only associate the word "surge" which lightning techniques, when in actuality all elements have potential to be full body surges.

Canon Full body surges
Nagashi (A-Rank)
Earth Release Armour (B-Rank)
Earth Spear (B-Rank)
Lightning Strike Armour (C-Rank)
Added Weight Jutsu (A-Rank)
Super Added Weight Jutsu (S-Rank)

Remember when using the last two techniques to release the chakra throughout your body, not into any objects and etc. A full body surge only breaks Genjutsus if it releases chakra from every point on your body, meaning very few techniques come under the clause of "Full body surge".

Any questions before we continue ?

Now that I'm done with my exams, I'll have much more time to reply to our training ^^

Ok, now I have two tasks for you to test your knowledge. For the following techniques (search them up if you need to), explain exactly why each of them counts as a full body surge. Remember to be specific to the technique at hand

List of techniques
Nagashi (A-Rank)
Earth Release Armour (B-Rank)
Earth Spear (B-Rank)
Lightning Strike Armour (C-Rank)
Added Weight Jutsu (A-Rank)
Super Added Weight Jutsu (S-Rank)

Along with that, I want to you to tell/explain to me if using a full body surge can serve another purpose whilst dispelling a Genjutsu, and if so, what are the different applications of it ?

Hopefully you passed !
____________
Nagashi: The chakra circulates very quickly all around the body, Then is release all at once through out your whole body in a extremely quick and powerful manner. It fits the main requirements for a full body surge. Chakra must run through the whole body and released throughout again around the body.

Lighting Strike Armor: Chakra must be circulated all around the body and then channeled forward outward in a explosive manner, touching all the main chakra points.

Earth release armor: Doton chakra in once again channeled quickly throughout all the main chakra points then excelled outwards around the skin, surging the chakra quickly and canceling out the genjutsu.

Earth Spear: This jutsu requires the user to channel all of his gathered chakra outwards around the skin of the user. Channeling the chakra quickly around the body surging the body and releasing the chakra outwards.

Added Weight Jutsu: Again due to the fact if any one touches the user who activates this jutsu will crumble or gain mass, it answers for itself that chakra must be channeled all around the body and released forward.

Super Added Weight Jutsu: Pretty much the same as the above jutsu but just with a larger amount of chakra used.

Now why this jutsu can also be handy for more then breaking genjutsu ...
- Most of the earth jutsu are used to protect the user so, Even if someone tries to attack right after setting the genjutsu you can both release it but also block it with great ease.
Example: An opponent tries to perform a genjutsu and right after throws a kunai at me to impale me quickly after I am caught in the jutsu, but I will perform the earth armor jutsu to release myself from the genjutsu, but also it will protect me from the incoming Kunai.

- When it comes with the lighting its pretty much the same it protects the user but mainly by paralyzing and shocking the opponent.
Example: Opponent does the same as above, places me in a genjutsu then he will try to rush towards me with a sword to stab me, What I will do it perform Nagashi releasing me from the genjutsu but also it will paralyze the opponent who was trying to stab me.

Its pretty much killing two birds with one stone (always wanted to say that)

I hope I answered it right.

Nagashi (A-Rank)
This is considered a full body surge because it requires you to send chakra throughout your full body, then once its in place you can "surge" your chakra creating an electrical current but at the same time dis-spelling genjutsu, at the same time this jutsu would damage any opponent in the vicinity of the electricity, stunning them. Reading them for the finishing move
Earth Release Armour (B-Rank)
You must transfer earth chakra too almost if not all the chakra points in your body, then quickly create earth armor, by pushing the chakra outside your body too create physical armor.. Like a surge. This would also protect you from any attacks your opponent was trying to hit you with while you were paralyzed
Earth Spear (B-Rank)
"Using your own jutsu eh sensei" This is basically the same reason as above except the user must transfer his chakra to his/her own skin instead of ON the skin it also has better defense capabilities imo.
Lightning Strike Armour (C-Rank)
The user is basically surging chakra throughout entire time the technique is used to keep the armor up, so it no doubt counters genjutsu this can also be used to add a shock on the end of a physical hit
Added Weight Jutsu (A-Rank)
The user must surge a large amount of chakra but not necessarily through the whole body i believe so it would take a lot of chakra to use a FULL body surge with this one but nonetheless it is usable

Super Added Weight Jutsu (S-Rank)
Same as above except even more chakra..

These two are useful because the could allow you too catch an opponent of guard (when he still believes you are trapped) with a crushing physical hit

Chidori Nagashi - A-Rank

This can be considered as Full Body Surge as the Person under a Genjutsu will focus his Lightning Chakra all over his body, covering the 361 Chakra points and suddenly releases the Lightning. The Power of the Surge created will make the Foreign Chakra out of the our body. Chidori Nagashi is capable of deflecting B-Rank or Below Genjutsu.

Earth Release Armour (B-Rank)

Using Doton Chakra to cover all over the Body and quickly releasing it will push away the Foreign Chakra from our body. However, This is Capable of deflecting C-Rank or Below Genjutsu.

Earth Spear (B-Rank)

This makes the user to use Doton Chakra all over the body to harden their skin which can add extra damage to Physical Attacks made by the user. However, while this Jutsu is active, the user is vulnerable to Lightning Based Jutsus. This Jutsu is capable of deflecting C-Rank or Below Genjutsu.

Lightning Strike Armour (C-Rank)

Lightning Chakra will cover all over the body and releasing it quickly to create Lightning Strike Armor can push away the Foreign Chakra inside the User's body. This Jutsu is capable of deflecting C-Rank or Below Genjutsu.

Added Weight Jutsu (A-Rank)

Super Added Weight Jutsu (S-Rank)

I have a Question regarding this Jutsus. This does not quickly release the Chakra from our body and requires us to touch the Opponent. I say that we cannot touch the Opponent because when we are under Genjutsu, it is difficult to notice the Opponent even if you realize that I am under a Genjutsu. How can this be considered as Full Body Surge?

Earth Release Armour and Earth Spear is capable of releasing our self from Genjutsu but can also block the Weapons which are thrown by Opponent after I am under a Genjutsu. But this would give me Very Less time to react so I must be quick in releasing the Genjutsu.

About Chidori Nagashi, I will go with what Noni Said.

More or less pretty good analysis by all of you. You all made the same mistake/misconception, so we'll go over that among other things.

1) Each all of these full body surges dispels Genjutsus one rank lower than it itself, meaning the Lightning Strike Armour can break D-Rank and below gens. I know, not particularity useful.

2) The Added Weight jutsus will only break genjutsus one condition. You must release your chakra throughout your body to increase your own overall weight. This chakra cannot be used on other people or objects to increase their weight, meaning physical contact with anything/anyone is absolutely unnecessary. When you use these techniques as full body surges, be 100% sure to word it that you're increasing your own weight and not the weight of something else. However, be wary that if you use this method, you'll become so heavy that your speed suffers drastically, causing you too become extremely sluggish if not unable to move until the effects ware off. The A-Rank version wears off in two turns, while the S-Rank wears off in one turn. Which one is better, slow movements for two turns or almost no movement for one turn ? Which one would be more disadvantages and hence harder to cope with ? I won't tell you the answer, since it will vary from fight to fight.

Once you read this, we'll move onto advance realization of Genjutsu techniques.

Okay I understand and read everything, seems simple enough ! Though I would rather move slowly for two moves then not move at all for one, It takes all but one move to kill a man without defending yourself then you will die. But I'm sure I will be able to form hand seals for a shield or at least do some type of earth jutsu, when it comes to moving slow for two turns.
But not being able to move at all for one turn, now that would suck. Though your right it various from the type of situation and genjutsu used. So I understand .

I read through the detail and Understood Everything.

I would go with both of them.

Being slow to move for 2 turns can be a great Disadvantage when the Opponent uses Chidori Nagashi or Chidori as the User doesn't have enough speed to escape it quick. However this is capable of increasing the Punching power and Protection from Taijutsu Attacks. The Hand Seals performed would be very slow and the Opponent can perform another Jutsu. Mainly the Great Disadvantage is that If the Opponent is a Sharingan User, He can track the Hand Seals and can note what he does so he will take the Advantage into his Account.

Being unable to move for 1 Turn can be a Disadvantage. But Look at the Bright Side, If the Opponent didn't use a Jutsu which kills you, you will be alright. The Best thing is the wearing off in one Turn. That is quite quick, It has capabilities of Blocking Taijutsu attacks but the greatest Disadvantage is the Exploding Jutsus or Chidori type of Jutsus. The Best way to defend is to stay Underground by using Earth Release: Hiding Like a Mole Technique because hiding underground for 1 Turn can wear out the effects but the only Problem is that Chidori Nagashi has the capability to reach out to the Underground if the User of Hiding Like Mole Technique is in Mid to Short Range.

Other than the Above both, I would prefer the Other Jutsus stated by my Class Mates and NK of course =D

sorry for late post my subscriptions never told me that there were new posts ..

Anyways i would rather be with slow movement for two turns then almost no movement for a whole turn.. Because with slow movement i would still be able to cast jutsu to defend myself, i would still also be able to retreat to a much better range, which obviously i would not be able to do if i could not move

Alright, now I want you to tell me everything you remember and recall about realizing Genjutsus. Feel free to look back on this thread, but try to do it mostly from memory since i need to see how much you've actually retained.

How to realize your in a Genjutsu
To realize your in a genjutsu you have to first observe and comprehend that your in a genjutsu and explain how. Ways of doing so is to look around the area and to notice if there is anything that is strange going on or something that just isn't possible in the NV. You have to also try and realize and know exactly which of the five senses the genjutsu is trying to manipulate. After reading and learning here I realize its actually very simple to understand and figure out your in a genjutsu and can be explained in more then one way.
Figuring out the environment and being able to solve everything. For example if an opponent was to make the whole area dark when its day time, it would not make any sense and it would be pretty easy to realize your in a genjutsu. More examples is if the area was very hot and sunny but then out of nowhere the climate changed and became freezing and snowy thats another example to figure out your in a genjutsu. So trying to solve and observe the area around you is one way. To get more in depth is to notice by using your senses. If my opponent was to perform a genjutsu that makes it look like her made a shadow clone, I would need to try and focus towards the clone and make sure to use all my senses to debunk the gen. Is he making sounds while walking? Does his clothes move around while he is walking? Does he have a certain smell to him? This are all question to ask yourself and understand if your under a gen. Another prime example is one we learned together, if a opponent was to summon snakes around me or under me first I would need to look where would those snakes be able to come from? Are they making and hiss sounds? This are all ways to figure out by environment.

Another aspect is the type of ninja you are fighting. What I mean by that is if you were to notice a Sharingan user perform Ice release type of jutsu then its obvious to know that your under genjutsu. More examples is if you were to see a custom character was to use a element he would not be able to. For example manipulate wood, he would not be able to since no custom bio can have wood release. So that is another way to realizing your under a genjutsu.

This are all ways to realize your under a genjutsu.

Realizing Genjutsus

To Realize a Genjutsu, there are several steps/types in realizing them. The first thing the Person who is under a Genjutsu must look at the Surroundings and see if there is anything abnormal or very different from the Current area where you are supposed to battle. If the Sky is very clean, and thunders clouds appear slowly and take over the battle ground, it is possible for that to happen. But if the Sky is clean, and suddenly it became Red, we can come to the conclusion that the Person is under a Genjutsu. When you feel like you are in a Genjutsu, you must always look at the Footsteps of the Opponent, if it is a Genjutsu, the grass won't bend when the Opponent walks on it, same goes to sandy area. Look at the surroundings, are the Leaves/Branches of the Trees are moving? Is the Opponent's cloth swaying around? Do you feel any type of sound made by the Leaf or the Opponent? If the Person cannot see the Trees and Opponent's cloth swaying, if he cannot listen to any type of sound made by the Leaf or the Opponent, we can come to the conclusion that he is under a Genjutsu.

When the Opponent suddenly disappears to nowhere, just stay calm. Analyze his/her type of abilities. Only Minato, Tobirama and Obito can use Space/Time Jutsu. No other person could do it. When the trees sprout from the ground in a Sandy area, we can realize it may be a Genjutsu. I added a may because the Opponent may also use Wood Release. So analyze his abilities before hand.

Whenever a Wood Guy is using Storm, Ice or any other KG. It can easily be realized as Genjutsu. Bringer of Darkness makes the eyes of the person under Genjutsu totally blind. This would usually happen if the Eyes are plucked out, but when the Opponent is quick far away from the under Genjutsu guy. We can come to a conclusion that he is under a Genjutsu. Sharingan Users, like me, can look at their very own chakra to realize if they are under a Genjutsu. If they are under one, they can realize by looking at their disrupted Chakra flow of their body and come to the conclusion that the Doujutsu is under a Genjutsu.

When the Genjutsu - Temple of Nirvana has been used, the Person under the Genjutsu will fall to sleep after a turn. It is possible for Cherry Blossoms to fall from the air. They just can't be summoned from the air. The Opponent has to go into Mid-air and has to use the Feathers. The way to realize this Genjutsu is that, when the Blossoms are falling on the ground, hear the sound made by them when they fly or touch the ground. If they do not make any type of Noise, we can know that the Person is under a Genjutsu.

The Most Important when in Battle is that you must explain/say on how you realized the Genjutsu. If done in a wrong way, it might kill you when the Opponent launches another attack after Genjutsu.

These are the Things which I know from my memory.

Realizing Genjutsu

Ok the way to determine if you are in a genjutsu vary depending on what Genjutsu is being cast. However there are a few main ways that you must always apply when you have the slightest feeling you are caught. First Look around are there any Un-explainable things happening, such as Plants randomly sprouting or objects vanishing from view, things that you know can not happen unless on special occasions, Another way is too try and remember what happened right before you got the feeling you were caught, did the opponent do something like make a handsign? Or lift a finger, or did their eye change shape? Asking yourself questions like these are an effective way to realize you are in a genjutsu, You must also try and know everything about your opponent because there are some cases where the Shinobi can actually do these things that contradict your reality, Such as if you believe someone vanishing is a sign of a genjutsu, well you must first be sure that they can not use Space/Time jutsu. Those are really the main ways of realizing you are in a genjutsu

All correct with the exception of the above. In a fight due to the way our RP works, you have almost no way of knowing all of your opponent's abilities, what they can and can't perform alike. Who says an opponent can't have 2 KGs ? Doesn't Hiruko wield four separate Kekkei Genkai ? Isn't Kakuzu capable of stealing up to 2 KG hearts ? I say this mainly to highlight the point that you can't use this type of reasoning to decipher a Genjutsu. Even people aside from Kakuzu/Hiruko can use elements which may resemble different KGs, so be sure not to include this type of reasoning into your realization of Genjutsu. Every Genjutsu can be worked out in more than one way, if you're vigilant enough.

Ok now before we proceed, you're going to complete a short task. For each of the five senses, I want you to tell me all of the main effects that you can be made to feel in a Genjutsu. For example, through the sense of sight, I could make you see complete darkness, like in the A-Rank technique, the Bringer of Darkness. These effects don't only have to be ones achievable with canon techniques, but customs as well. List anything and everything that comes to mind.

Sense of Sight -

Sense of Sound -

Sense of Smell -

Sense of Touch -

Sense of Taste -

So things that make us effected in a genjutsu revolving around the 5 senses ...Okay ^^

Sense of Sight -
A genjutsu can make me see a very bright light or see nothing but darkness. Others can be a large fireball heading my direction or a monster that is trying to attack me. Really most genjutsus rely on the opponents sight so there are so many to choose from.

Sense of Sound - The genjutsu can try and make the opponent to hear loud noises or very annoying noises. Like a flute playing in the background to distract the opponent, or loud screams of some sort.

Sense of Smell - Another pretty obvious one. A genjutsu might put you under the feel that you are smelling something sweet like flowers or something terrible like trash.

Sense of Touch - When it comes to a sense of touch is mostly when the genjutsu tries to make it look like there binding or trapping the opponent. Like a genjutsu that places a large chain around the opponent to make them think they are trapped.

Sense of Taste -Now looking through the canon genjutsus I have failed to find any good example to for this sense, but I know a way to effect someones taste in genjutsu is probably for example you might place him under a genjutsu where he is in a place of sweets or food and he might eat the food but in reality he is eating a tag, though since he is in a genjutsu he will be thinking or tasting it as if it was something good.
Though I would never put something in my mouth in battle. Whether there is food or not.
