Ninjutsu is the base of all techniques that require chakra. No ordinary person is capable of learning ninjutsu since not many people have access to their chakra network, unless they are a shinobi and have had training to do so. To perform ninjutsu there is one 'thing' that is required, chakra. Chakra is the physical and spiritual energy of a ninja. They use their chakra, sometimes in combination with handseals, to create all different types of techniques. A more skilled ninja is able to change their chakra that allows them to use elemental ninjutsu. This means the ninja is capable of using things such as: Fire, Lightning, Water, Wind and Earth all to their advantage. To perform jutsu two methods must be used nearly all of the time, these are Shape transformation, and as stated before, Nature transformation. Ninjutsu can be combined with Taijutsu to create Nintaijutsu, a move advanced form of taijutsu involving once chakra.
The advantages would depend on the techniques. Some of the ones I have seen can be very useful like paralysing, poisoning and cloning. Also some techniques may be basically not as good as others so you wouldn't use them as much. Some of my favorites would be shadow clones if the fight gets tough they can help a lot. Also the Kumasi multiplication techniques is very useful as well. The palysing one that Orochimaru used on Sasuke is also very useful as it can delay your opponents moves giving you more time to react.

I'd say the disadvatage for me in battle, is the proper time to use a ninjutsu. With the way most battles occur int he RP, most wont allow you to even have time to set up a counter using ninjutsu, but thats where a strategic mindset needs to come in handy. Id say there is always a perfect battle to use ninjutsu because when you use the basics together with ont another, they make up for what you may believe to be a futile attempt.
For example lets say you put your opponent into a genjutsu, they will need to recognize its an illusion before they release from it. Given the situation, someone like me can take full advantage of such an opening and amount of time given. Always remember to mix it up, do not rely on just Elemental ninjutsu alone and you will have loads of strategies up your sleeve.
Lets start with these for example... I want you to come up with 3 separate combos using only the E ranked ninjutsu while incorporating one of each of these techniques. Your basically showing me your usage of each technique.

As it travels towards you I have prepared two giant wind mill shuriken that I throw, one on top of the other. The bottom ones presence is concealed by the tops.

Combo 3
I throw a smoke bomb in front of myself and as the smoke covers me I create two clones that run out of the smoke and start to arc towards you. As they near and the smoke clears you find your self paralysed all of a sudden. I use that opportunity to send many needles directly at you.

Good combos, but the first one would have to be reversed. Hidden needles are not large enough to hide a kunai in between but would be the other way around. The hidden needles would be somewhat overlooked with a large kunai coming at them.
For the next set, and continuing on, do the same. Give me a combo with each of these new techniques combined with what you currently know. Meaning the previous set of techniques you just learned can be incorporated.
