Kakashi, to hell with Shikamaru, his techniques are used to hold down and stall while someone else goes in for the kill, what type of Commander needs is allies to make the finishing blow while he detains the person. The only thing he would be good at is strategies and battle formations.

Only problem is if Shikamaru father is dead He is now the Village number one strategist like His father was and takes over His Father seat in the council as such He be in charge of over all strategies for all the village,He won't have time for just one squad.
