Is it most likely this. They have the crossover episode with Luffy, Goku, and Toriko in two weeks plus Oda has always said how big of a fan of Akira Toriyama he is so yeah. But it would be funny if he was making fun of Hiro and his god awful tournament arc from what people say. I don't read or watch fairly tail so idk.

Well I thought it was an ironic coincidence, but I don't think he's bashing him....if anything he's giving a funny hat tip to Fairy Tail's Mangaka....if you claimed they are friends, then my assumption is that it is good humor as opposed to "one upping"

There is a new rumor going around in the One Piece world that Oda is dissing fairy tail with the new(Tournament Arc)!!!
They have been speculating that Oda is trying to SHOW-UP manga author and illustrator of fairytail(I don't know his name)
I thought that Oda would be above this sorta behavior BUT!!! With the Lucy on Luffy's back made it more clear that he might be dissin Fairy Tail!!!
What do you think???

I don't think you can call something a rumor when you started the rumor.

Oda doesn't have to prove himself, and he certainly doesn't shit on any other mangaka like you suggest. If Oda uses influences from other mangas then he does it subtly and uses it as a tribute. Like Luffy's Roshi beard.

The fact that you think that holding a tournament in a Colosseum/Arena is special is just plain stupid. In ancient times the people were amused with fights in structures like these and nowadays people go watch their favorite teams play in a stadium, Nothing has changed throughout the years, were else do you expect him to settle a tournament on a mediterranean island ?

Fairy's have been a part of FAIRY tales since people started writing, it's not like Hiro invented Fairy's besides almost all magical creatures have been part of the One Piece story. Giants, Dwarfs, Minkmen, Sea monsters, Dragons, etc..

Lucy is a popular Japanese name and a it has just been used as a gag. There aren't that many variations on the name Luffy that are funny too.

If you say that Oda copied Hiro or 'dissed' him then you're giving the author of FT too much credit.

Love Cook has a point. You just gotta think about it if Oda knows Hiro personally and his manga Fairy Tail. Since the celebration of 10 years of ONE PIECE and Oda invited famous mangakas such as Kubo, Kishimoto and others to draw any of ONE PIECE characters in their own distinct styile. I was hoping to see Hiro draw any of ONE PIECE characters in his own style.

However, we may like to spark anything about Oda dissing this manga or that manga, but it would be beeter to ask Oda himself in SBS what's the idea behind dragons, fairies, Lucy and Colosseum. I'm pretty sure Oda has no idea what you would ask about, because if you look at the whole issue. Oda thinks way ahead for like 10 years for his plot. He already has had set up everything for his manga ever since he started.

Haki came at chapter 1, and no one has any idea of what happened during Shanks saving Luffy from the sea king and after 10 years, he explained haki when Rayleigh tells Luffy all about it.

Another example is Luffy's crew how they were like and after long time of changes Oda made. You definitely don't wanna see the concept of Luffy's crew. So you see? The dragons, fairies, Lucy and Colosseum been in the head long ago. I could bet that he though about all this before Fairy Tail ever came.

Naruto Base also has quite a lot of members browsing through the section

and with those three covered I think you have 80% of the active One Piece debaters. So to say that a rumor is spreading through the community is a bit much.

I don't think he's planned everything that's happening on Dressrosa for a long time. He's probably planned the fights and especially what's going on with Doflamingo and the mera mera and the stuff with Caesar you know, but little details like the fairies could just have been made up on the spot. Even the colosseum could be a relatively new idea.
