what??? are you crazy the 3rd hokage was better then Minato alone even at his old age he was better the minato..young Kakashi came close to beating minato with out even having his sharingan just off pure shills alone at the age of 13 wow buddy i cant believe you said that just know..there are plenty more ninjas who surpass the 4th..need i say the first hokage, madara, pain, these men was the next so6p in strength not the 4th..hahahaha
They are about equal in combat intelligence with Minato being wiser in my opinion due to his age. Both made a decision to help the future that produced the most powerful shinobi in the narutoverse by causing them isolation, but Minato's way of doing it was better in my opinion.
Again, in battle, I say their intelligence is the same.
Sorry but Kakashi retains the fastest ranks crossing in Naruto series....
Itachi was a anbu squad captain at 13 but Kakashi was definitely a Jonin at 13, him being captain is questionable and I agree with you there...
Well my point wasnt about who achieved their ranks the fastest.... But the fact remains that kakashi went from genin to jonin in 7 years (6 to 13 years old), Itachi went from genin to anbu captain aka the one who leads special Jounins in 6 years (7 to 13 years old)... So even if Kakashi was made Anbu captain the moment he entered the anbu, Itachi achieved it faster than kakashi (1 year faster)
Although the important part to me was that no matter how fast Kakashi got passed the academy, Itachi was praised as being unsurpassed, out of everyone who graduated from the academy since it's foundation, Itachi holds the number one spot.
Hey J O K E R, before getting all giddy, how about you take a look at the usernames of people supporting you? 99% have Minato in their name, or are known Minato fan boys.
Also Minator93,
Don't take this seriously. You have never before, haven't now, and will never "shut down" a thread. Especially ones to do with Minato, since you are his 2nd biggest fan boy (Bogard takes that particular cake)
Anyway, Itachi would beat Minato 6 times out of 10, if not more.
Ha ha ha ! You just had to add the''10 time more Epic than Izanami ''for this to be controversial thread and hopefuly reach hottest, since you know there are many Itachi fans on NarutoBase.

i would have to say this is a draw minato could not get a kunai close enough to itachi to be able to ftg to him for an attack as itachi has mastered kunai and shuriken techniques and as itachi would figure out very quickly he needs to stay away from minato's kunai. and tsukiyomi requires eye contact and i'm pretty sure the fourth hokage would know when facing an uchiha, dont look in their eyes. as for amaterasu minato could seal it with his technique he used on the kyuubi's bijuu dama. and don't say ama is too instantaneous for minato becuase how could sasuke run from it for like 15-30 seconds before getting hit at all as far as i see it unless it is a surprise attack when the other is totally unaware neither of them could really finish off the other.as minato's speed is too fast and itachi's possible defences are too powerful for either to take the cake here
I see people say that Itachi doesn't have enough chakra all the time. While it's true his chakra is limited, all you have to do is watch his fight with Sasuke to see that he was capable of using quite a bit before he was completely exhausted of chakra. In this fight he probably used a bit more than he normally would, but he knew he was going to die so he was a little reckless.
However, he was able to use tsuki, various fire jutsu, susanoo, and amaterasu before he bit the dust.
Despite this I personally believe Minato to be the better shinobi, but their styles are quite different and they are hard to compare.
Itachi fanboy these days. i bet they wouldn't even care if he was a villain and if he wasn't planning to die by sasuke.
But OT: Minato did fight an obito who had the kyuubi in possesion and analyzed quickly how obitos space time was superior than his and still wins. not to mention he protected the village. Minato trained obito and kakashi. look at them now. kakashi has soaked in how Minato analyzes a situation. He really is a genius of a life time. Itachi cant do all that he'll collapse and kiss the asphalt.

Fine!
Minato wins this,he has all the answers to Itachi's attacks and can come out as the victor if the two of them were to face each other in ideal conditions.
I am assuming ideal conditions are manga conditions, meaning only the knowledge, they would have in the actual manga. So we take Minato at his top level against Itachi at his top level. Of course Itachi will have knowledge about the flying thunder god technique, thus he wont just be KO'd instantly (which anyone without knowledge would). However, Minato has no way of knowing Itachis MS abilities, since he died, before Itachi gained MS. Besides Susanoo was even unknown to the kages at the kage meeting, just saying.
Read the following
Minato vs Sharingan Itachi :
Minato can beat Sharingan Itachi.
Minato has more speed, raw strength, chakra, powerful summons, seals.
Yes I agree with all. However, Minatos speed isn't always favorable. He needs to place kunais, before it can give him an actual advantage. Itachi is a shurinken master, he can most likely manage to hit every kunai, thus giving it/them a different location than Minato intended.
He beat Obito, yeah, but he was 13-15 years old? His skills at the time was limited to his MS ability, he frankly didn't seem to use anything else. The current situation is different. Obito has no genjutsu mastery compared to Itachi, and many other factors are important.
Minato vs Amaterasu :
A Few thing from wiki :
A using his Lightning Release Armour enhanced Body Flicker Technique avoided a short-range Amaterasu launched at him by Sasuke in an instant.
The only thing that the flames have failed to burn into or through is Gaara's chakra-infused sand. However, the flames burn fairly slowly, sometimes allowing anyone struck by Amaterasu an opportunity to remove whatever clothing or body parts have been caught ablaze. Nagato was able to deflect the flames from his body using Shinra Tensei. Use of the technique also puts a great deal of strain on the user, usually causing their eyes to bleed.
Minato dodged A's FULL speed the picture is in the Susanoo section below.
We've seen that A who wasn't even using his full speed dodged Sasuke's Amaterasu [Which according to Shee was better than Itachi's] at very close range. So Minato can do the same with more ease.
So even if Minato gets hit by Amaterasu he being the fastest of them all and thanks to s/t can save himself by teleporting himself back to his safe house. He did this when Tobi had bombed new-born Naruto.

Plus Itachi can't use Amaterasu very often it affects him badly because he lacks the Eternal

One more thing Jiraya sealed Amaterasu. So its safe to assume that Minato being the sealing master he is can do the same with more ease.
The way Jiraya sealed it, wasn't the normal way. He wanted a sample of it, and as I recall he took just a small part, with a certain "fire-sealing" jutsu. Assuming Minato can the same, is probably safe, but it's not something suited for combat, and it doesn't work on a great scale.
However, the other arguments are spot on. Itachi wont aim for Minato with Amaterasu, he isn't that stupid. U_U wasting chakra on something, where he can only miss. However, Amataresau has another useful purpose in this battle. After Minato set up his Kunais, that is when his strategy is ready, and Itachi will be screwed. So how does he counter it? He must divide small bits of Amaterasu to each kunai, that would be a solution of course, however, again cost much chakra, however, it can be used for a few Kunais, thus reducing the number of Kunais, he needs to be on guard against.
Minato vs Tsukuyomi :
Tsukuyomi requires eye contact to be performed. Its a short Ranged Genjutsu and to my knowledge the root knew about it and It hasn't killed a single soul.
Guy was confident to go up against Itachi w/out Eye contact a Jounin os his calibre can fight w/pot eye contact. Further its common knowledge that when fighting a Sharingan user avoid eye contact and that can be done.
For Itachi to trap Minato in tsukuyomi Minato need to look directly into hie eyes and that to at a cllose range which Minato will never do.
In fact Itachi can't afford to keep Minato at a close range because Minato is bad close range match up.
I mean look at all his fights all he does is to get close to the opponent, All those fodders, Tobi even A the raikage...all those pictures are posted below.
As I mentioned in the start, we are taking manga standards, meaning Minato has no knowledge about Tsukuyomi. Every shinobi knows that he needs to avoid eye contact with an uchiha, since uchiha has other paralyzing genjutsus. However, doing so isn't easy. Even Raikage accidentally made eye contact with Madara in a short moment. But that is all Itachi needs.
However, escaping that is probably possible for Minato. He is extremely fast, and could prepare a way to make a move, so he would escape the genjutsu the minute he is caught, he is smart after all.
But if it's tsukuyomi it's a different story U_U That instance will be the end of the battle.
Minato vs Susanoo :
Minato can get past Itachi's complete Susanoo -
Here are some photos that shows that Minato can teleport in a radius of few meters around the FTG Kunai

From the above data its pretty clear than minato can get past the susanoo via FTG Kunai i.e. Teleporting Inside of it.
Further once Minato's done that Itachi's end is fixed because his body is under enormous amount of pain He won't be able to defend himself.
There are other ways as well such as marking the ground or stones etc.
Hmm, you did well so far, but now you clearly wasted your time in representing useless evidence. Surely he can land within some radius of the kunai, but there is no evidence that this goes through obstacles as well. What he can do in mid air/free space is one thing, but being able to have a kunai at one side of Susanoos ultimate defense, and appear on the other side of it, is 2 different things. And no evidence suggests he can do that, rather it's the opposite.
So no, he cannot get inside Susanoo. Besides, you are underestimating Itachi, he wouldn't let a kunai be anywhere near him, whether he uses susanoo or not. I explained this already.
Minato can attack the susanoo itself :
Here we can see that Danzo used his Summon against Sasuke's Offensive, long Ranged Complete Susanoo

And it reduced the Susanoo to the incomplete state, the only reason it failed becasue Fire worked against the wind.
In Minato and Itachi's case Minato can use this on Itachi's Defensive Susanoo

Don't forget Gamabunata has water style that has advantage against Fire style.
Also this is the same summon that went up against Strong Rinnegan summons held its own against a tailed beast Shukaku and restrained a complete Kurama
Again yes Minato can summon a giant toad on top of Itachis Susanoo, but that wont destroy susanoo, rather it will be the on of the toad. It will land directly upon totsuka, which would kill it instantly. At least if it's the same for animals as for humans, which I can't prove. Gamabunta may be landing with his giant sword on top of Susanoo, but I don't see anything proving that it would break through Susanoo? Besides, if the toad is summoned in mid air, it has a certain "fall-time", it would be easy for Itachi to dodge being hit by the actual sword, and still make sure to kill the toad.
And Minato summoning all 3, well surely that would be trouble, but that would also cost Minato a lot of chakra, but of course it would cost Itachi even more to destroy them with Amaterasu. The toads would be a problem, but they still can't penetrate Itachis defense as I see it. I doubt they will jump straight towards him, knowing one of them will die. They have their own will after all.
The three most powerful toads :
Also before saying BS like Itachi can control them via genjutsu Consider Itachi's state and the Chakra being drained from his body [used for maintaining MS and Susanoo]. He can't do **** against them. He is not Nagato!
In fact now that I think about it Itachi cant put up a descent fight if he has to go through all these summmons.
This could also be the thing why Jiraya was so confident when we was up against Itachi and Kisame
You must be registered for see images
I mean yeah Itachi never intended to fight but I have 1 question, Has Jiraya ever underestimated his opponent or boasted that He would kill someone who's power would be greater than his ?
Don't you remember what he did before going up against Pain?, He summoned Gerotora because Pain was the only opponent Jiraya wasn't sure about.
One more thing before posting the pic that show Itachi blocking the Rinnegan view with shuriken, The Rinnegan summons don't think for themself they just do what the Rinnegan user wishes that's why they just charge at the opponent w/out thinking or w/out any strategy.
Yeah the 3 toads would definitely be a problem, but there was also things that even Jiraya didn't knew about Itachi. One of them being Susanoo. The kages didn't even know about it, when Sasuke used it. Also the sword of totsuka and yata mirror. How will Minato handle those? If he have a toad spit water, it can be returned. Will he know about the shield? Doubtfully. It could be used to take out the toad with cheap chakra use. As I said, they wont jump carelessly towards Itachi. Well another way would be simply throwing his Magatama, which would destroy all of them. I don't see Minato preparing a space-time barrier to protect the toads in mid-air, when he will have no idea, what is coming.
Minato avoiding Direct eye-contacnt against Tobi :
Well, don't think that is valid evidence for anything. Did Minato make the move, the way he did, to avoid eye contact, or did he do it, to get a position, where his opponent, would not have any chance to overpower him. Nothing suggests Minato put a single thought to the whole eye-contact deal.
I honestly didn't spend the time to read all of that, because I already agree with you.
I will however like to mention another possible strategy.
Minato has the space time barrier, allowing him to transport any projectile wherever he wants. This is frankly a secret OP jutsu. Just think. He could have Gama shoot a water cannonball and then warp it INTO Itachi's Susanoo. That should be entirely within the realm of possibility. Similarly, Minato could also warp one of his kunai into Susanoo, allowing him to teleport into it.
I just wanted to add another possible strategy to Minato's arsenal.
Edit: Also a possible argument to those of you saying that he would look into Itachi's eyes because he did against Tobi, a possible explanation is that Minato, knowing that Tobi was already using a genjutsu to control the fox, would be unable to use it on Minato at the same time. So Minato, understanding that he was not threatened by genjutsu, freely looked into Tobi's eyes.
There is no proof that he can just warp it to any location. He most likely need to have something like a seal placed at the location, which he warps it to.
Now of course, I did not explain, how Itachi wins, I do see Itachi coming out as the winner, but Minato could just as well win it. It will be a close fight, but this thread was saying Never compare Itachi and Minato., but this comparison can easily be made. They are both top level shinobi, and it would indeed be an intensive fight between shinobi of high intelligence and high skill in jutsu.
Itachi himself has also proved to be skilled in fuinjutsu, btw. so he could recognize many types of fuinjutsu.
So how does Itachi win? Sometimes tricking your enemy is the best way of winning. All he needs is one touch with totsuka. Minato will probably be wondering, what a huge "cup"-like thing is doing in Susanoos hand, when he can't see the actual sword. The other thing is, as I see it, Itachi has the ability to create attacks from every direction, using his shurinken skill. Also standard fire ninjutsu will be of good use in a battle like this. Combined with shurinken, Itachi can easily force Minato to be on the defensive mode, without overusing chakra to maintain complex jutsu like Susano.
