Honestly yes Minato is most-likely the most over-rated character in the NarutoVerse. I'm sick and tired of hearing; "Oh instant FTG and rashengan's Itachi...."
Are u losers serious?? In fact its kinda ironic how IMO these two guys are best suited for each other... physical strength versus power of the mind
#1 - FTG is only made possible by using the seals placed on Minato's weapons. So.. for any 'warping' to be done, the kunai have to be near the opponent. (Notice i said near, so yes i am well aware that he can teleport a distance around the seal.)
Ironically, Itachi's marksmanship with throwing kunai is shown on more than one occassion.

That noted, it would be easy for itachi to deflect any kunai thrown at him, his skills enhanced with the sharengan tracking the speed.
Minato is an obvious close range fighter, compared to Itachi's close, middle and distance attacks, ie his kunaiXD, katon techniques and his susanoo's magatama attacks. So then what? Minato uses throwing the kunai as a distraction to attack him directly?? BS.
When are u guys going to realize FTG isn't perfect?? For crying out loud! Itachi could probably just have a bunshin backing away from his current location to increase distance from himself and Minato while meanwhile blocking the shuriken and having the real him hidden somewhere else analyzing Minato's strategy. Simple huh?
#2 - Giant Toad Summons? Lets say Minato realizes what's happening and goes all summoning toads. Well beside from draining his chakra what could that do... hmmm. lemme think.
Gamabunta < Itachi's Susanoo with sword of Totsuka + Yata Mirror.
Gamabunta jumping great heights wouldn't really do much since the Susanoo has long-range Magatama attacks. Even if Gamabunta was to get at close range, he'd be sealed in an instant. Not to mention FTG wouldn't work against Susanoo even at a close range, so Minato jumping off Gamabunta's back and trying to land a hit on Itachi would just be done.
#3 - Tsukuyomi wont work? Pshhh.... don't get me wrong Minato is extremely smart, however even if he's able to get some seals around his area and keep warping from one to the other, at one point he would have to stop and think about his situation. People seem to get this conception that he'd always be in high-speed in a battle. NO. at one point he'd have to slow down/stop and think. Mind he wouldn't be looking Itachi in the eyes, but then again he doesn't know that Itachi can cast genjutsu just by pointing at you can he? BAM. Tsukuyomi!!!!
Fact of the matter, Minato would most likely have to teleport back to the village or something. He isn't stupid. He'd know when to retreat. SO YES THEY CAN BE COMPARED. Itachi would be left standing and bleeding badly from an eye though.
