We know that if Toneri isn't stronger than Kaguya, then he will lose because of that. That would make for a really boring movie, so I think that Naruto is restricted to his usage of Kurama's chakra in the new movie. By this I mean that Kurama states in chapter 699 that if he gives his remaining chakra to Naruto, he will go into a coma like state. In chapter 700, which takes place after the movie we see one thing, Kurama still sleeping. So that is the basis of my theory, now let me explain. From what we've seen of Naruto's design in the movie, it seems like he has a mode that looks alike the one he had during the first part of the last war. This mode (Bijuu Chakra Cloak) is something he gained after stealing Kurama's chakra, and he wasn't using all of Kurama's chakra, rather just some of it. When Kurama and Naruto linked their hearts, their power sky-rocked to the mode he gained with the coat. (The Kurama Link Mode) He later gain Hagoromo's Senjutsu and gained; Rikudou Chakra Mode. (Something like that.) In the new movie, we know that he still have Kurama and Senjutsu mixed cloak. However, his new mode looks alot more like his Bijuu Chakra Cloak, rather than Kurama Link Mode. The Kurama Link Mode was only achieved when Kurama and Naruto linked their hearts. So if Kurama is asleep during the entire movie and until Naruto becomes a Hokage, then he may be severely weakened as he isn't able to use all of Kurama's power. (Well atleast during the movie.) That explains why he requires the help of his friends and why Toneri is able to match him. |
