Well i am not exactly sure, possibly a tie for a certain number of reasons, i think it just depends who gets who first, Shikamaru isnt a taijutsu specialist by any means but if neji get caught with the shadow then he's done for.

I wish you would've given a fight location because that would put the advantage on either two. While my initial instinct is to say Neji for the same reasons you did, I don't think it's as black and white as that. Shikamaru wouldn't need as much time to plan a strategy as normal because he knows Neji and his abilities. He probably even knows about Neji's blind spot. In an open arena like the last stage of the chunin exams I'd say the advantage was for Neji if he could keep Shikamaru out of the shadows, but say in the forests...I don't think Neji would be able to avoid all the branches of Shikamaru's shadow, especially if he shadow stitches into that blind spot.

Just because you say it and type it a million times does not make it true, you can say Naruto lost against Neji, youd still be wrong
