Need help figuring this out...

So I'm starting a fanfiction, and I don't know if my idea behind it all is solid enough to hold any ground. The ninja world in mine is under tyrant rule and the main character (starting as a child, although there will be a time skip) first breaks away from the rule and becomes a wandering ninja, then joins a resistance to fight this tyrant.

There aren't any Uchiha, Hyuaga, Nara, etc clans, however, the tyrant is an Uchiha with mangekyou sharingan (subject to change, I think he might be a little too OP), but nobody knows, and no, he hasn't put everyone under a genjutsu lol

is this idea a solid one? Or do I need to go back to the drawing board?

P.S.: The plot I gave was very brief, it will be more complex than it looks here, I'm just wondering if this base idea is good

If there are is no Uchiha clan, how can there be a tyrant with Mangekyou. A tyrant is usually a ruler, if he is ruling with his powers, someones bound to know that he has a special/secret ability even if they don't know exactly what it is.

IMHO, you should give the tyrant his own powers. Put your imagination to good use.

Hm. I see your point, should I put the clan in there, but as a minor role, or just re design the entire character? I'm leaning toward the second one....
