There are many who complain when a mod replies to a thread and immediately closes it...
...now she's giving you guys a chance to speak your mind about the matter.

I'm fine with her closing it. At least she responded. I can always give Ira that. Letting us speak our minds is commendable to say the least.

Well first of all I know post was directed to someone else, but since you put few nice points. I would like to give few of my opinions, on the points you came up with.

My response to this is, you can make mods/Admins more active, i.e. they should post more things. I know you guys don't have time and all, but make it possible for the welfare of this site, because whenever a mod/admin remains active in the thread, we see less no of trolls. It is the best suggestion I could come up with.

Not possible. Moderators are allowed to participate - participating in discussions is not the job.

And talking about 'mentality', these mentality is created by lack of quality threads, it is just a cycle of lack of quality followed by mentality, and if you want to end it, you have to be strict and teach lesson to the trolls/character bashers. The common example is Sakura bashers or Sakura wankers.(I am not targeting anyone specific).

Quality is in your hands. Report the trolls. Ignore the badly made threads and let them die instead of posting in it anyway. People complain if we close threads and people complain if we don't.

To certain extent, it is democracy since it is 'community' or 'forum'.What is the use of forum if people don't post threads or discuss topics??

Nope. You pay no taxes here. You didn't put any extra effort in to making this site. You just come here to hang out in your free time to enjoy a place created by someone else. Democracy doesn't work here.

But we can't disagree with the fact that these number of threads have increased from last few months, what about that?? Isn't it an indication that people want this site to change??

Any thread made at NB gets repeated by others.

But as I said earlier, Mods/Admins must take note of opinions from common members, and that's what I think.
It's nice that it's their site and they want to run this their own way, but if you are building a community people are going to criticize your way of running the site or going to give some suggestions.:yeah:

It's a community for discussing manga and anime. You are welcome to make suggestions if you have any and if it suits admins they listen. But no forums cannot be run based on random people's view in general.

The principle of the democracy is entirely different. Theoretically everyone involved have exactly the same interests and stake in that system and works together for it giving their best.

Not be offensive but your interest and stake in the site is nill in comparison to the owner. If it closes you will just find another place.

And exactly what purpose did that post serve? You remind me of Sanskrit sloka- roughly it meant that people can turn any virtue in a vice. Physical power to harass weaker one, capacity to talk for endless arguments and all that.

Fallacies all sound pretty clever but that post was little more than a jab of a disgruntled person.

The threads for example , I don't think many people mind some of the troll threads that are actually entertaining etc ....but that's not the point , for example today : there was like 10 hype threads .........I even reported some I believe or was it one of the Sasori ones don't remember , but the point is ...you say report them & we'll deal with them but the threads last for hours with everyone spamming it & bashing each other , so what happened ? ...you could delete them at least instead of closing them .

huh? I don't even know what you mean. I was not referring to anyone particular. I have been here since 2009 ( on net and other forums for much longer than that) and have seen the site as a normal member and as a staff member. Just posting from my personal experience.

Thing is there are thousands of users and everyone's idea of what should be moderated differs somewhat. As a mod we follow a certain guideline. So people are even free to make a fool of themselves as long as they can follow rules. We cannot infract them for it.

Just like many want mods to reply- if I keep replying your posts all day long- would you be compensating me for the loss of the pay from my real job? No. So in the end it comes to how much time I can spare and feel like doing so.
