Disclaimer: when I say "you" it doesn't mean it's directed at you or any other particular member. When I say "churn out" I mean the quality of threads here are quite simply weak. This is not something I myself have spoken about, but a members have pushed through the wood-work to voice their complaints.
Quality of threads depend on the members. You have the power to ignore the thread which are no to your likings and report if need be i.e. breaking rules. You have the option to level them up. You have the option of not caring about stupid forum stats and instead of making 10 threads with spam to post in the thread already made for the same topic.
Many make thread just because the mentality of "making a name for themselves" not because they want to discuss or debate anything. They don't care on bit for the discussions, just the comments about their greatness. Exactly what are we supposed to do about it?
Entire site? I don't know what makes you think it's a democracy? The owner put his personal efforts and personal money in this project for the longest period. Even now the money earned from it goes to server maintenance. He has the right to run it how it suits him and what he wants from it. Even if some of you occasionally help a bit the costs, most of you do it for the extras you get. Otherwise he provided us a free and yet a neat place to hang out. With the high visitor count he could have make everything public including your profiles and load up with advertisements you know.I find it rather odd that responses like this get put through. While informative, this is more or less saying the same thing. "This environment works" and so on. My question is, shouldn't the entire site debate that as a whole?
Demise of the site threads have been posted for years. There is nothing new.Forgive my ignorance on the matter, but considering this manga is concluding, isn't it odd and somewhat disappointing that so many threads about "the demise of the site" has been created? I'm sorry, but the fact that these discussions exist at all only prove that this atmosphere is not nearly enough to compensate for the manga's end.
Good for them but if I'm making a right guess they are not that active either. Also many people complain because they saw others complaining. They never really tried to find out the exact details and if they do they chose not to believe the mods or official staff if that doesn't suit them. 'Nothing I can do about it.For my arguments sake and only for my argument I will point to a few other sites who are not experiencing this on anywhere near this level.
I appreciate that and thank you. As for bans- you are free to disagree. All I will say that it's an internet forum and our priority is to run it smoothly and as much cordially as possible. If people do not pay heed to moderator instructions/rules and insist on being a problematic despite warnings they need the time out. It's nothing more than a cooling period to get the point across. No two people have the same views on everything. So there are always disagreements about some issues. Admins and staff cannot afford to engage in endless debates over the policies and that's it.Ira, for now I will just speak to you as a person, because I really do see that you care. For one, I'd like to apologize for some things I've said to you in the past. In reality they were ill-put and I thought I had a gauge of you beforehand. Though I never really agreed with the way people were banned here (and still don't) I want to make it clear that people care.
You must be registered for see images
I already explained it. Admins will open registrations when they are ready or feel the need. We don't advertise that much and the site is free. I am not sure if I can go in to details here but good things end because of problematic users. All the forum rules are results of some kind of problems. If people could discipline themselves admins would to make them. Not everyone has read them and yet most of them are able to follow most of the rules without prompts from mods. Yet there are enough members for whom it becomes necessary.I mean people on this site really care. Enough so that they're willing to discuss this as openly as possible. Please just be real with us here. Closing registration for 5 months for something like trolls and alts just seems... odd. Is there something up here?
I am hardly ever interested in correcting anyone. Most of the times I am just putting the opposite view out there. If you read all of that thanks. I am not really interested on getting "corrected" here. I'm sure there are a few things I'm not fully up to speed on, but I think i've donated a good 30+ dollars so far to this site. I am not at all suggesting that I am entitled to anything in the least, but I do want to make it clear... that I do care. To some degree.
Not to be rude and unappreciative of the donations but admins try to thank you for that with some extra perks. They do not make it compulsory because they still want to run the site in their own way. At least that's what I think. And I think many of the members that have donated and converse here would agree this is a little more than a random forum for anime talk. It's a rather decent escape every now and then. I hope me questioning things (even if I'm ignorant) isn't an issue.
But I feel that giving my honest opinions is being fair to you all.
