Naruto's talk with the sage parallels Sasuke's own prior talk with Obito after he fought Itachi. Both are or would eventually be called a six paths sage.

I believe just like in Sasuke's talk with Obito the sage is twisting words and might even be lying about his identity.

In Sasuke's talk Obito used the truth yes, but he also told certain lies. His identity, how Madara gained the Mangekyou. He also used the truth to twist it to his advantage.

Do you know how demoralizing it might be for Naruto to learn that not only did he get a tough break in life but his own accomplishments can be attributed to some stupid chakra ghost? Not only that but the sage bluntly says hes not as talented as his Parents. What the hell is up with this guy??

Talk about self esteem hitting rock bottom.

I think we are all forgetting that Naruto has just been through a trauma and this "guy" isn't really helping him get over it. Hes just lost Kurama, he's worried about his friends and the future, and to his mind its all on him. This "sage" is dumping more crap on his shoulders. Things he doesn't even need to know. What the hell does it matter if Ashura is possessing him?? He already knows the score between him and Sasuke he didn't need some "wise" old man to tell him that.

The sage has no reason to lie. Since naruto was well on his way to being the successor. Without meeting him. I do however agree with what you said about the sage crushing his self esteem

Some stupid chakra ghost is the son of the sage? His accomplishments can be attributed to working with his team mates/hard training like ashura did..that's kinda the point lol

Bolded:

Exactly Naruto would have suceeded anyway it doesn't matter what he says. But the point here is that someone with less than honorable intentions could use this opportunity to throw off Naruto's focus. He is currently in a very vulnerable position and this "guy" might be taking the initiative.

What are you talking about? There is a reason the sage is telling him the story. Just wait for the next chapter, he said he is there to entrust something to Naruto. Your just twisting things to make the sage look like a douche. If you haven't notice, the sage said that Ashura eventually caught up to his brother and the way he lived made the sage choose him as the successor. He isn't demoralizing Naruto and Naruto's accomplishments is his own. Your making it sound like Ashura possessed Naruto, watch Avatar: The last airbender or Legend of Korra to see what a reincarnation is.

Naruto is still his own person, he just inherited the chakra/will of Ashura.

Also, Naruto is the one who is going to find peace, Sasuke isn't his only goal. That's what the sage wants him to do, continue the way of ninshuu and bring peace to the world. Somehow I get the feeling that your a Naruto hater and chose to attack the sage, but is actually bashing Naruto in a way.

I didn't very much like how Kishi portrayed the conversation, because by now Naruto has been through a lot and when the sage talked about entrusting him with something, I don't see any need to freak out like he did, because he has been entrusted with a lot up to now, and that wouldn't exactly be a good way to react to the sage.

He should be so experienced with these kind of things after the talk with masked Obito, Jiraiya, Nagato, Madara and even after fighting two Uchiha Perfect Sage wannabes.

The sage obviously wants him to continue his practice of ninshuu. Just because Naruto used it against Obito doesn't mean he would use it all the time. The sage is actually showing him a better way to find peace through ninshuu, since Naruto is following Jiraya's method of trying to understand others, the sage's way makes it quicker and possible to execute. Naruto had no idea that ninshuu existed, but now the sage is telling him about it.

The SO6P says Naruto reminds Him of His young Son but His young Son never inherited His fathers powers and Naruto is on the verge of getting he SO6P Powers. SO it seems That Naruto is going to places were The SO6P and His Sons never dream of going.

To add to this Hag is leaving elements out, much like Obito's explanation to Sasuke of the Kyuubi attack on the Leaf village. What was left out? Why would he care if Sasuke knew this resulted in Minato and Kushina's death and the Kyuubi being sealed in Naruto?

there's a difference between the talk obito had with sasuke to the one the sage is having with naruto Obito's honesty was always in question ever since he claimed to be madara, but wore a mask. the sage on the other hand has given no cause todoubt his intentions or anything. not to mention since he is dead and only exist as chakra/spirit he really doesn't have a stake in this world only too see it better. obito used his talk as a means to minipulate sasuke to help in their goals to rule control the world. the sage on the other hand, if he ever wanted to take over the world, wouldn't need to manipulate naruto to do so. the sage had nearly limitless power and could have done so at any time during his life. the same can't be said for madara or obito. so we can assume that there is no need to lie to naruto.

also nobody is taking away his accomplishments, he did them himself. people are having a hard time grasping what a reincarnation is suppose to be. Avatar explains it great, basically you have the exact same souls as someone that lived before, in this case ashura. that does not make you have the exact same personality, but it can cause you to seek out the same situations, maybe. just because naruto is a goofball/idiot, doesn't mean ashura was. so ashura isn't making him do anything, he is ashura, just a different version of him. also the only reason the sage even brought the thing about naruto not being as talented as his parents is because of what e said. the sage had told naruto that ashura wasn't talented and what not, and naruto responded in disappointment that even being the sages son he was useless. the sage used naruto's situation as a comparison because naruto's father was a genius and very talented, and hs mother was special also, but he isn't really like either of them in those aspects.

there is a reason the sage is telling him these things things right now. naruto can't do anything in his current situation which gives him the opportunity to impart wisdom onto him, and to intrust him with something. we have yet to know what this something is, but it's important, and no is the perfect time to receive it.

If I had to compare NarutoxSo6P talk with another talk, it would with ObitoxOld Madara talk. This is the only talk that matches chapter 670. Obito may not be a reincarnation of Ashura, but he initially had the will of fire or will of Ashura. After meeting Madara, Madara messed his mind and end up becoming twisted.

Unlike Obito who deviated from his path, Naruto is much stronger. He could withstand Jiraya's attempt to change his mind about Sasuke or saving his friend. He has always chosen the path of reconciliation, and the SO6P even said it - that it naruto seeks after words (TNJ in a way). I am waiting for the second part of the talk to see what is that the sage wants to entrust Naruto with that Naruto does not already have.
