Naruto's talk with the sage parallels Sasuke's own prior talk with Obito after he fought Itachi. Both are or would eventually be called a six paths sage.
I believe just like in Sasuke's talk with Obito the sage is twisting words and might even be lying about his identity.
In Sasuke's talk Obito used the truth yes, but he also told certain lies. His identity, how Madara gained the Mangekyou. He also used the truth to twist it to his advantage.
Do you know how demoralizing it might be for Naruto to learn that not only did he get a tough break in life but his own accomplishments can be attributed to some stupid chakra ghost? Not only that but the sage bluntly says hes not as talented as his Parents. What the hell is up with this guy??
Talk about self esteem hitting rock bottom.
I think we are all forgetting that Naruto has just been through a trauma and this "guy" isn't really helping him get over it. Hes just lost Kurama, he's worried about his friends and the future, and to his mind its all on him. This "sage" is dumping more crap on his shoulders. Things he doesn't even need to know. What the hell does it matter if Ashura is possessing him?? He already knows the score between him and Sasuke he didn't need some "wise" old man to tell him that.
