Okay so I have a theory and I might be looking way to much into this but here we go.

There are three imperial regailia in Japanese mythology. Two of them are outright shown in the Manga. The sword of Kusangi, the Yata mirror. The third is a jewel worn on a necklace known as Yasakani no Magatama.

These arn't the real objects, Almost no one has seen them. This is what people think they look like.

I think that the necklace Naruto wore is this third object.

The first two, held by Itachi's Susanoo (Susanoo is the Shinto god of the sea) symbolize valor(sword) and wisdom(mirror) Two qualities that are held by Itachi. The jewel symbolizes benevolence which is the very essence of Naruto's being.

If this is true, Kishi is a masterful writer, but then again I may just be looking too much into it.

You may be wrong, but I don't think your thinking too much into it. Just look at the sharingans abilities.

I think it makes more sense for the third object to be the susanoo technique Yasaka Magatama. It's similar in shape and name to the necklace Yasakani no Magatama. Benevolence is also a characteristic of itachi. The only real problem with his I have is that the Yata Mirror and the Sword of Totsuka are specific to itachi while Yasaka Magatama can be used by any Uchiha who can use Susanoo.
