Back when he devised a strategy to free Kakashi from Zabuza's water prison I recognized he isn't all dumb. He tends to be quite deceptive in battle, which takes a certain amount of intelligence to achieve.

Haha, shorter than I intended it to be. I wanted to place manga scans and Databook scans, but that would've taken too long.

Don't get me wrong, I like Sasuke more as a character, but Naruto's character development and feats should not be ignored.

The constant arguing about Naruto relying on Kurama is pointless because he made such great use of Kurama's powers anyways.

Remember when Naruto used Senjutsu to strike Juubi Obito, but then forgot he needed Senjutsu when he was going to attack him a second time? XD

It was said in the manga a couple of times. In combat, he has the intuition of a prankster, because that's all he did growing up.

In battle, he can analyze the situation pretty well too. During the Pain fight,

. He doesn't actually need Kurama or the frogs or whomever to analyze battles. He could have probably figured out Shinra Tensei on his own.

Hell, during the VOTE2 fight, Kurama's role was less to advise Naruto and more to explain the balance between Sasuke and Naruto, as well as to be Sasuke's hype-man xD

Exactly, Kishi explained so much to us (reader) through Naruto.

It was mainly to prove how Naruto can do things on his own and applies previously learned concepts to master even stronger techniques.
