Naruto should've been a senju. He has more in common with the senju than uzumaki, also being ashura's incarnate entitles him more than anything.

Naruto doesn't have trademark uzumaki red hair nor knowledge of their vast sealing prowess or chakra chains. Naruto however has a very strong body and life force with exceptionally large chakra reserves like his predecessor hashirama.

Honestly Naruto being uzumaki is bad writing on kishi's part. It's noted uzumaki are related to the the senju, I guess uzumaki are alot closer to the senju than most people realize. By feats, Naruto is on par if not a better senju than hashirama.

Nah its better to have another representative from a sub clan showing off the Senju's skills. If Naruto was a Senju he would gain acess to Mokuton and that will trump anything the Uchihas have. Kishi doesn't want to ruin the reputations of the Uchiha Clan.
