He'll get smarter as he gets older remember he's only 16/17 he's still got a lot to learn bare in mind he was smart enough to take out Pain, Kakuzu and lead The Alliance into battling Madara, Obito and the Juubi

You seem to be missing the point. Naruto just wanted sasuke back in the village. If sasuke comes back then nothing is holding naruto back from being hokage, the only thing that was holding him back was the fact that sasuke was NOT in the village. If anything Hashirama did naruto a favor.

Actually during the pain fight he used his intelligence to outmaneuver the individual paths and used the intel he had on them to his advantage. Examples being how he used his clones and smoke bombs as feints and picked them off one by one and how he used sage mode to locate and track nagato down. Even during the third raikage fight he devised two separate attacks, the first one being a failure, and the second being a successful strike using his perceptive abilities to find a weak point nobody else figured out.

So... No. He has certainly shown a decent level of intelligence, but I can agree he doesn't show it consistently like when he fought edo nagato.

The ones arguing it are Sasuke fanboys really.. They say Naruto won't because he said that he couldn't save a friend so that means he shouldn't be hokage. They miss the fact that after his last fight with Sasuke he seemed set on a course to find a way to snap him out of it or kill Sasuke and himself, I highly doubt he would get ina huff and not become hokage just because he didn't change Sasukes mind Lol.

Exactly, plus that Nagato thing was Kishi just having fun with a character, putting humour into his manga a bit..Narutos not the right sort of character to be a genius all the time.
