So Naruto clocks that Boruto is cheating right? Obviously, yeah disqualify him. But Naruto...the most understanding person in the NV who considered Obito the coolest guy, redeemed Nagato and let Sasuke off with god knows what IMMEDIATELY strips him of his ninja headband and embarrasses him in public. Hurting Boruto in the worst way imaginable for him.
It's so out of character and so messed up, especially when you realise that in his early days- Naruto was just looking for attention and other people's admiration too. So much so that he stole an ancient relic which gave him his main technique he uses to do EVERYTHING from saving the ninja world to half-assing his daughter's birthday party.
So...cheating in an exam with an iffy ninja tool is worse than theft of an ancient artefact to cheat the graduation exam?
Talk about double standards. This film made me finally realise that Naruto can be interesting...but I don't like him anymore. He's lost his spark and from the way he was going on about 'teamwork & perseverance". Clearly his ideology has gone stale as he's very soullessly spouting it as if it's a catchphase.
He's not a hero to me anymore, just an old man prattling on- as if he doesn't understand it himself anymore. This makes sense when you look at Sasuke & Naruto's final lines to each other and that theme of the film about 'the soul of the shinobi stays the same" Naruto isn't a hero anymore. Officially a hero of the past, a relic like Hashirama.
In summary, Naruto even in his ideology has officially died and even though it took Naruto and everyone he knows a little while to find theirway, he expects his son to be there already. Not okay. I can't relate to Naruto Uzumaki more. Interesting twist though.
