From what I see, he was scared of shukaku.He didnt wanna go out of his way and fight for Naruto at a risk of his life.But when he heard shukaku bullied his kid and Naruto protected him from shukaku he agreed.Here in this case Sasuke was like a fly to Gamabunta.And Gambunta had already started respecting Naruto by then.He would just end it quickly.
