Everyone here remember this never ending discussion about whether things are decided at birth or not. Naruto said to Neiji to wait for him till he becomes Hokage, then he will change the fate of the Huyga. We aslo know that even though he was born in the branch family, Neiji was acknowledge by the main Family, and played a key role in the war. Neiji also chose to die, not as a branch family member, but to save Hinata after being saved by Naruto.

Well, after these, people gave up on the ideological concept of the debate, and decided to accuse Naruto of being fated with Kyuubi, and later with Ashura's reincarnation. What people do not realize are:

(1) Naruto never accepted to be solely a jinchuriki like the other people we saw. Naruto never accepted to be a tool for war as being Jinchuriki was meant for. Even, rather that letting his rage burn out, Naruto conquered his own darkeness, conquered the darkness of his Biju, and both worked together as friend rather than master and slave.

(2) Even though Naruto was born as Ashura's reincarnation, Naruto made his own choices. He chose to use his own power the way he wanted, to the point that the meaning of being Ashura's reincarnation is questionable power-wise. Naruto also decided to change Indra's reincarnation, something that has been passed down the same way for generations.

These tell me that fate as defined by Neiji was BS, and Naruto proved it. Even being Ashura, Naruto decided to be Uzumaki naruto and not fight Indra's reincarnation to death. Even though Sasuke was Indra's reincarnation, he has become friend with Ashura's reincarnation. The two people are not being anymore bad for one, and the one who become hero for the other, but friends.

This is the evidence that Naruto's speech to neiji was true and real. Naruto won every challenge, even that of chosing his own fate.

Jimmies rustled

OT: U cant compare Part 1 naruto as probz kishi had no idea about his future ashura and indra concept. Infact, I think that introducin s06p is the dumbest idea as I would hv liked "Naruto" to be bout skill more than destruction-freaks. Kaguya was a killer and i bet one of the reasons why Kishi is abruptly endong the manga is bcoz he realised how shit the kaguya arc was and probz after the film he'll start a new series

Oftentimes declaration of will is confused with prophecy in Naruto. "I will change Hyuga when I become Hokage!" becomes a point of hope for the viewer and a potential line to build narrative for the writer.

In this series Naruto sets goals which become prophecies for us and goals for him. We all know them so well and we rely on the series achieving completion based on these goals/prophecies.

1. I am going to be Hokage, I will become greater then all Hokage, I will make everyone in the village recognize me.
2. I will change Hyuga when I become Hokage
3. How can someone become Hokage when they can't even save one friend?

We can tell that Naruto knows the difference between prophecy and goals when he is receiving his prophecy from the Sage Toad and interrupts him telling him that he has made up his mind. At this point he is letting us know that he doesn't care about external narratives that predict, he is only interested in achieving what he has set his mind too, and hence completing his ninja way, to never go back on his word.

When Naruto is fighting Raikage as he attempts to enter the war we hear a discussion about Minato as a savior and his absence via death, where Naruto refutes that Minato is present through him and that the "savior" is still alive.

What Naruto is saying is that his fathers ideology is present within him, not that fate has decided for Naruto to save everyone, but his father had and he was simply performing the task of a dutiful and loving son.

I think this area shows a misunderstanding and perhaps one of the only seductions of prophecy that Naruto falls for, contradicting his speech with Neji. At this time he believes that he can conquer all of the hate of the world by himself. For the first time in his life he knows that he has value, and this value is reenforced by who his father is and his fathers status.

Naruto rightfully understand all that he has accomplished as tremendous and then suffers from pride and further attachment to his own prowess.

Naruto's fight with Nagato and Itachi help clarify his thoughts and defeat his final opponent in preparation for leadership and manhood, pride.

After this we see Naruto return to his previous position of needing others and relying upon hard work. This lines up with Kurama's ethics and the other bijuu, show us with your actions not with your words, hence effort not prophecy.

Even if Kishi didn't have a clue about the reincarnation bit he can fold the concept of the fight between Neji and Naruto into the rest of the story and allow it to become a theme.

I would even say that Naruto's own self fulfilling prophecies are more akin to Guy's self made rules, except they apply to broader social contexts then personal achievement.

Most of Naruto's prophecies have come to pass, the last being, When I become Hokage I will change Hyuga. The upcoming movie seems to hint at the resolution or the beginning of the resolution of that goal, one which might be accomplished through love or the unending effort of Hinata and her pursuit to be kind like her Mother and strong like her Father.
