This, essentially. I'm not one who usually wins all the time, but when I do win, or am close to really winning and adding that sexy win to my name, someone disconnects on me and it's really annoying, personally. :x It's like people can't handle losing and it's just a game and stats don't matter all that much. I mean, I've got almost 200 losses to 90 wins, and it doesn't bother me at all. I'd prefer the ratio to be better, but hey, beggars cant be choosers. :/
As for character usage, I did frequently use either Shikamaru w/ Asuma and Ino Supports, Hidan w/ Kakuzu + another Akatsuki supports or Naruto w/ Pein support, but lately I've been playing as Kakashi with Neji and Gai support and it's been working out really well for me tbh. It was Neji and Killer Bee when my friend chose it, but I prefer Gai because it gives the cool title which isn't "Original", and Gai is essentially like Killer Bee in terms of Jutsu style. It flies forward, knocking them back and they both give the attack support. Yamato could also do this, but Yamato is defense, not attack.
