Naruto without the nine tail is weak if it wasnt for the nine tails power n chakra naruto would be dead by now.. so no naruto will never surpass the so6p he might become the 4th so6p but he will never surpass the 1st so6p

There wasn't even a 3rd so how could their be a fourth.. Nagato can barely be counted because even WITH the Rinnegan his power paled in comparison mostly because he didn't have the Jubi's unlimmited chakra. Plus Rikudo had a life time to master every single elemental, fuinjutsu, adn yin &yang most of what he made up.

ALSO I wish people stop saying if it wasn't for Kurama Naruto would be dead. I mean come on Naruto didn't ask for this just like Nagato didn't ask for the Rinnegan when his parents got murdered so stop it when this is all part of a great story..

So6p beat Juubi without the power of any tailed beasts (obviously), Naruto is only becoming strong thanks to the tailed beast.

He also doesn't have Rinnegan (or Sharinnegan what some people think the Sage actually had) and doesn't have anywhere near as many jutsu or chakra

Naruto will never surpass So6p, although he may become the 'next so6p' through becoming Jinchūriki of all 9 beasts

Possible correction: 10 tails. And 'as near many jutsu' mention. Now-a-days, in our present Narutoverse - there are many newly discovered Jutsu's that no doubt were not thought of in the sage's time. (example Edo Tensi).

Oh, my bad. Well, like planned for--possible correction. (thanks for correcting my correction). And of course I did not mean Naruto himself knew said jutsu's... (why would ya think that ?xD) I believe I was generally saying the sage himself did not know all Jutsu's; much like a stone tossed into pond - more and more ripples evolve... (or <insert things that evolve after thee original stone is tossed>, heh.

As much as I like naruto, he can not surpass the sage. He is a GOD in the narutoverse. Even madara only has a fragment of his power and look at what he did. Naruto is far far far far far from that level.
