Naruto: The Lost Heir
Chpt. 2

The cold wind buffeted Manzo face, water droplets from yesterday’s rainfall stuck his face as he sped through the forest toward the Leaf center. The canopy blotted out the sky, aside from the occasional streak of light peeking through the bustling leaves. Jumping from the branch to branch, of the thick overgrown trees, Manzo dodged spider webs and frightened birds. The braches gave a slight squish sound from the water they’ve soaked up. Manzo kept going over that event, “Your nothing but an outsider!” Manzo cringed at this thought; it gave him shivers that he really could say that. A gleam a light appeared ahead of him, and wondered if somehow he could make amends for what he said. The light got larger and larger, and then it was decided, after the meeting with his father he’d speak to Roka and apologize. Through the opening Manzo flew out from the trees and onto a nearby building. He took a deep breath and smiled. Looking into the sky, the sun shown proudly not a single cloud appeared, it seems as if all the clouds floated over the forest.

Half an hour later Manzo finally came up to the Hokage’s office. Taking to the stairs, Manzo came across many people he’s never seen before, men garbed in neatly decorated kimonos and other weighed down by innumerable amounts of jewelry. Spiraling upward through the corridors he finally came to the Hokage’s room. He took a deep breath; his nerves shot, and finally brought himself to knock on the door. When the okay was given he stepped through the door.

To his left were two shinobi dressed in gray battle armor. Of the two the right was a man, tall, and. His shoulder length spiky hair was pure white and pulled back into a ponytail. He had two shoulder-length bangs that framed both sides of his face. He had brown eyes that gave of an air of wisdom. He also had two red streaks coming from each of his eyes. And to the mans left a woman. Not much taller than the mans shoulders. She had blonde hair with two bangs that ran down the sides of her face, and two pig tails that ran down her back. She also had fair skin and brown eyes. And two his left was another man. Tall just like the other, but his hair was straight and jet black. He wore the same armor as the other two shinobi. His eyes were… to Manzo’s astonishment were almost reptilian. And his skin was as pale as the moon. “Who are these three,” thought Manzo. And to the man’s right stood Roka. His emerald eyes focused on Manzo, Which left him with a sense of guilt. And directly in front of him was his father, the Second Hokage.

“Your late,” Tobirama said in his deep voice. The break in the silence made Manzo jump. “Roka has already me told where he found you and what you were doing. I neither need nor want any excuse you have Manzo. I won’t sit here and give you a speech or a long needed lecture.” The Second Hokage had a head of spiky white hair which rested on his intertwined fingers. And three red stripes on his face. One on each cheek, and then his chin. His ruby eyes tore through Manzo’s conscience. Pointing at the pale skinned man Tobirama announced, “This is Orochimaru.” He then motion to the man and the woman, “And they are Jiraiya and Tsunade, they have risked their lives countless time with the wellbeing of the village in mind. And you will be accompanying them on a mission to the Hidden Rain Village. ”

“”To the- but the Hidden Rain is nothing but refugees, what do they need from us?” asked Manzo.

“It seems as if the Rain has been having a bit of unforeseen trouble,” Roka butted in. “Hanzo of the Salamander has been dictating the Hidden Rain for sometime, but just now he’s decided to attack our forces that have been camping in the village. He thinks that the Leaf is trying to take control, and knowing Hanzo, he’ll do anything to protect his title…and pride. ”

“So what are we supposed to do about it?” questioned Manzo. “It is his village after all. To him and many of the villagers we’re just intruders.”

“That maybe, but it doesn’t give Hanzo any right to attack our men,” said Orochimaru. “The upcoming war has put Hanzo on edge. He’s thrown all outsiders in prisons, and barricaded the entire village so no one can get in or our. The Rain may be just a small village but Hanzo has great power, and that’s why we’re here.”

“We need to infiltrate the Hidden Rain, free the Leaf shinobi and assassinate Hanzo himself. You and Roka will be perfect to accompany us on this mission,” added Jiraiya. “The Second’s told us that you to are two of the best sensors in the village, isn’t that true.”

“Wait, Roka’s coming to?” even though Manzo wanted to apologize, he always dreaded ever being sent on missions with Roka. It seemed to Manzo that he always tried to show him up. At this comment everyone stared at Manzo, giving him a look as to question why he’s being so childish.

“The three of would be more than capable of doing this mission on our own, if it was a complete invasion,” said Tsunade, rolling her eyes away from Manzo. “But seeing as Hanzo has Leaf shinobi as captives, we’ll need someone to determine where they are and if they’re hurt.”

“The reason Roka is going is because he’s more sensitive to chakra than you,” admitted Tobirama. “As for you, you are more sensitive to the life force of other beings. Say you’ve infiltrated the village and you’ve also been found without you knowing. Roka can sense the oncoming chakras and inform the rest of the group. But what if they’re suppressing their chakras with a jutsu or seal? That’s where you come in. Seeing that it’s impossible to conceal one’s life force, you’d be able to sense them coming before anyone else. ”

Hearing this coming from his father gave Manzo a strong sensation of pride. Because his father is Hokage, and a war is about to start, Manzo never really saw his father, let alone get to hear him brag about his abilities a little. “So when do we leave?” he asked.

“As soon as possible”

“Well,” Jiraiya grunted as heaved himself off the wall with his left foot. “I guess we should be off then”

Everyone started to turn, until Orochimaru asked: “Lord Hokage, what happens when we do meet Hanzo, or what happens when he comes after us?”

“You, Jiraiya, and Tsunade handle him,” answered Tobirama. “Hanzo is far too powerful for those to fight alongside you. Keep Hanzo or whoever attacks occupied long enough for Roka and Manzo to find the prison and free the captives.” Orochimaru nodded, opening the door he walked out. Followed by Jiraiya, Tsunade, and finally Roka. Before Manzo could leave, the Second Hokage called after him.

Manzo froze, prepared to be scolded for today Tobirama said: “Manzo, this is a very dangerous mission. I’m you’ll be able to handle it, but try no to overexert yourself. I’m sure you don’t want to relive what happened in the Hidden Stone.”

Manzo nodded nervously; to be honest he didn’t even remember what had happened then. For days he tried to figure out what happened but he just couldn’t remember. He turn and walked out the door. Relieve he sprinted down the corridor out of the building at to his house, in preparation of the new mission.
