Naruto, smart?!

Narutos genuinely stupid but he is also genuinely a spammer. That's the only reason he learns anything. He spams his little heart out until he gets it right. Now naruto using his brains, not so much.

He has instinct that is all a good fighter needs look at all anime the main charater is always pretty stupid but when they get into a fight they understand the mechanics of how to fight Example: Yu yu Hakusho, Dragon Ball Z, Bleach, Naruto all the main charaters are refered to as stupid but they know how to kick ass simply put.....

agreed! yu yu hakusho is the bomb, wish they would make a comeback for it... and i see Naruto as a similar style of fighter as well he never gives up

Naruto instinctively comes up with strategies on the spot or mid fight, he could become very smart if he used shadow clone jutsu to study different techniques and when he release it he just gains all that knowledge.

Naruto did something that the 4th couldn't do not because the 4th couldn't but because i think wind nature chakra was the only element that could combine wit rasengan and mabe the 4th didn't have wind nature chakra!!

think about it
kakashi couldn't combine lighting with rasengan
and i don't think u can combine fire or earth or water with rasengan

some techniques i think require a specific nature chakra

the rasengan was an incoplete jutsu and the 4th sorta.....died, im pretty sure that if the 4th can make a technique that allows him to control the death god he can add wind chakra to the rasengan. i really dont think that naruto is that intelligent he never was, he learned shadow clone jutsu pretty much just by reading that forbidden scroll. (which i am hella curious as to what else might be on it O.O) everything else was just learned because he is the main character of the show. therefor he can never "die", he ALWAYS has chakra, and he never gives up. im guessing the geniousness will just jump his generation and go to his kids. they are gonna be mini yondaime's and itachi's.

He is pretty smart in my opinion... and just because we don't see him think like shikamaru, it doesn't mean he doesn't have a plan, a strategy. Shikamaru being a strategist is his thing, that's why they show it in detail, naruto however makes the plan as you go, adapting to his opponent while fighting.
When we have seen Shikamaru use his brains was mostly to devise a plan for a team, and most of the times before the attack, while naruto has to do both the fighting and the thinking at the same time.
And now seriously, would you rather see Naruto think for an hour, devise a plan and take down the enemy with a well planned plain rasengan or the way he is right now?

i do have to admit that since the fight with pein naruto has continued to show himself as an intelligent fighter and is able to reason out a lot more. what else would he do in those emo moments where we just see him lying in bed or by himself. he must be thinking, and hey you have to practice something to get better at it lol.
