I don't know about that. Minato took a severely lethal blow and was still alive long after the attack.

That happening to him kind of trumps that wood spike in his leg.

Pain tolerance doesn't exactly have anything to do with how long he managed to stay alive. Him staying alive along with his wife proves that they both had a strong will and a decent amount of chakra. He took a blow that knocked out his spine and some organs, same with his wife. They weren't able to feel that. They'd feel numb in the area Kurama clawed through. This isn't a good representation of pain tolerance for that reason.

Consider it hard to find someone with lowest pain tolerance, I want to list the best

1. Kushina - many thing happen to her in one moment but still hold strong

2. Obito - getting slash, stab, lose gedo mazo but still able to hold his will, getting rip by juubi from inside

3. Sasuke - sharingan strain, curse mark

4. Itachi - his decease is eating him from inside bit a little bit, without a healing power like byakugou, he continue to fight Sasuke as fas as he can

5. Tsunade - being stab and most importently cut in half

Also to the people saying Minato has high tolerance, that isn't true. He has a strong will, which is why he was able to keep talking. Similar to lee getting his legs crushed by Gaara but standing up even though he was unconscious. Also Kushina went through more then Minato.

But, he didn't feel any pain. His body went numb. Blood loss doesn't correlate to pain felt.

He gets brownie points for not passing out based on that situation. But, it doesn't mean he has a high pain tolerance based on that.

Sasuke and Kisame hands down. Both of them had their organs blown apart and didn't even let out a loud sound. Sasuke was stabbed multiple times and didn't even hiss. Kisame made his own sharks eat him.

Minato had his insides pierced through by a gigantic claw which he stopped with brute force even after getting pierced through and managed to seal Kurama, Kushina's chakra, and his chakra into Naruto's belly. Afterwards he sealed himself into the Reaper's stomach. All this under paralysis effect after sealing the first half of Kurama.

Naruto was withstanding Kurama's corrosive chakra which burned every cell of his skin, got crucified from both of his wrists by Pain rods, let other people willingly beat him to a pulp, caught a Kunai with his bare hands as a mere child, let Nagato willingly pierce him through the stomach with a Rinnegan rod again.

Obito has no need for explanation. This guy took everything Rasengan to the face, chest, slash, hole in the heart, was paralysed from being extracted his biju and could still move. Got extracted from GM and still could move. He's a tank.

Itachi ..Itachi .. Looking back he deserves so much respect when comparing him to to other guys on similar situations to him. Tuberculosis and MS drawbacks. Itachi lived with his sickness and MS drawbacks for years when another MS user i.e Sasuke started screaming from pain the first day he used it. His pain tolerance is subpar to guys like Itachi. Itachi coughed blood, endured Sasuke's Katon when Sasuke was getting burned from Itachi's basic Katon even shielded by CM2.

Itachi took every internal pain there is and never complained. He used a taxing technique such as the final v4 Susanoo on his last breath. He's one of the characters with the highest pain tolerance who even affected by his disease and MS effects managed to cast high taxing techniques plus seal his powers onto his brother just to save him from Tobi.

Off-topic: This is why Itachi is one of my favourite characters who did so much for brotherly love and never expected anything in return.

Pain tolerance is hard to judge... A lot of characters have shown it. But these are on the top line imo:

Gai (he was like "imma arright" after getting his ribs and arm broken. Gates are enough proof.)
Lee (stood up after getting his bones/tissues ripped and half of his body crushed. Again gates.)
Kisame (Got his chest blown off and willingly get eaten by sharks)
Tsunade (his fighting style revolves around getting impaled)
Ay (cut off his own arm)
Nardo/Sauce (ripped arms nuff said)
Neji (ran and killed enemy after getting bottle cap sized holes on his shoulder & hipbone and chunks of wood on his back.)
Itachi (MS usage and ninja AIDS)
