So there has been lots of discussion and fights over favorite characters, who soloes whom, etc... but one thing we can all agree on is that Kishi is great at creating his character personalities.
What are the MBTI types of the main Naruto characters?
In this thread I want to analyze the personalities of a few main characters with the widely-used Myer-Brigges test. You can read about the

, and determine your own personality type

. Some more about the MBTI personality test:
The personality test operates on the foundation of four dichotomies -
1. Extraversion vs. Introversion: How outgoing a person is - whether they feel more energized when around lots of company, or when they're alone.
2. Sensing vs iNtuition: How the person perceives the world - whether they see things as is, at face value, or more in terms of their relationships with other things, contexts etc.
3. Thinking vs. Feeling: How the person makes judgments - with their head or their heart.
4. Judging vs. Perceiving: How the person approaches the world - Judging types tend to proactively tackle their surroundings while Perceiving types prefer to respond based on their surroundings.
All this creates 16 combinations of 4 letters, each with their quirks and nuances.

Let's apply this model to Naruto!
Naruto Uzumaki -

"The Inspirer" (Dominant: Extraverted iNtuition) He has a strong sense of values, very outgoing and outward, very warm and enthusiastic, great people skills - the master of TNJ

Most ENFPs have great people skills. They are genuinely warm and interested in people, and place great importance on their inter-personal relationships. ENFPs almost always have a strong need to be liked. Sometimes, especially at a younger age, an ENFP will tend to be "gushy" and insincere, and generally "overdo" in an effort to win acceptance.
We see Naruto trying to win acceptance in all the wrong ways; painting on walls, playing pranks on teachers, being naughty in class, etc, etc. Of course, Naruto's lack of parental figures intensified this trait.
Some examples of Naruto's ability to inspire others:

and virtually everyone including Neji, Hinata, Lee, Tsunade, Shikamaru, Nagato, etc.
They have a strong need to be independent, and resist being controlled or labelled. They need to maintain control over themselves, but they do not believe in controlling others. Rather than controlling others, Naruto would rather be friends with them, and firmly despises anyone who tries to control selfishly - a natural peace keeper and leader.

Since emotional excitement is usually an important part of the ENFP's life, and because they are focused on keeping "centered", the ENFP is usually an intense individual, with highly evolved values.

His weakest point is introverted sensing, which means that Naruto learns more through experience rather than theory, and takes in the world directly rather through introspective analysis and implicit context. He is very skeptical of that which he cannot sense directly, such as what the SO6P was trying to get at with the reincarnations:

Has trouble understanding SO6P's vague wordings:

And, interestingly, it is these weak points (as SO6P said: "Compared to the previous reincarnations, you are eccentric and a little bit stupid") which might save the shinobi world from the darkness.
Sasuke Uchiha-

"The Mechanic" - (Dominant: Introverted Thinking)He is focused on living internally and applies high levels of analysis for mainly practical purposes. We see this side of Sasuke most recently during the war arc where he would rather take the "practical" way of saving Naruto rather than those with little power for the "greater good" of saving the world.
Although they do not respect the rules of the "System", they follow their own rules and guidelines for behavior faithfully. They will not take part in something which violates their personal laws.
i.e. Even while "working" for the Akatsuki, Sasuke maintained his own agenda and his own perceived and stubborn sense of righteousness.
ISTPs avoid making judgments based on personal values - they feel that judgments and decisions should be made impartially, based on the fact.
Sasuke does not believe that ties to Team 7 or any other "bonds" have any valueYou must be registered for see images
They are not naturally tuned in to how they are affecting others. They do not pay attention to their own feelings, and even distrust them and try to ignore them, because they have difficulty distinguishing between emotional reactions and value judgments.
Sasuke saves Karin with a power triggered by his emotion for Team 7, rather than his coherent judgement:

Sasuke's inferior extraverted feeling (Naruto's strongest point) explains Sasuke's "cold" behavior from the very beginning; unlike Naruto, he is almost never guided by emotion in the moment. Meanwhile, his extroverted intution is suppressed unless he is in a sketchy or dangerous situation (as in the case of thinking of Team 7 while saving Karin).
An ISTP who is over-stressed may exhibit rash emotional outbursts of anger, or on the other extreme may be overwhelmed by emotions and feelings which they feel compelled to share with people (often inappropriately):
Sasuke really stressed after Danzou fight:

Sakura Haruno -

- "The Caregiver" (Dominant: Extraverted Feeling)Deals with people and situations based on how she feels about them; tends to form mostly supportive judgment about people - Sakura generally has an optimistic attitude towards others and relies on her feelings. Her feelings likewise sometimes get the best of her in the most serious situations such as her attempt to kill Sasuke or her failed attempt to stop Naruto from chasing Sasuke back by confessing her love to him.
The ESFJ's strong desire to be liked and for everything to be pleasant makes them highly supportive of others.
Even if the situation looks grim, Sakura will try to cheer others up, such as when in Part 1, Sasuke had escaped and Sakura tried to cheer Naruto up despite being sad herself.
ESFJs are such caring individuals, that they sometimes have a hard time seeing or accepting a difficult truth about someone they care about.
Pretty much Sakura for the past 50 or so chapters.

They are hurt by indifference and don't understand unkindness.
Explains why she cries a lot.

They need approval from others to feel good about themselves.
Sakura longs to get approval from Sasuke and Naruto and the NV by taking the initiative:

They have a strong need to be liked, and to be in control. They are extremely good at reading others, and often change their own manner to be more pleasing to whoever they're with at the moment. Unlike their ENFJ cousin, they don't have Intuition to help them understand the real consequences of their actions.

However in general Sakura is good at reading others and understanding their emotions:

Their dominant function demands structure and organization, and seeks closure.
This explains why Sakura always punches Naruto when he doesn't follow directions. This also explains why Sakura wants "closure" in reconciling her confusing feelings for Sasuke and for Team 7 to finally be back together. This, of course, is also part of her very compassionate nature.

Alright, that's enough analysis for now! Coming up next, Kakashi and Itachi!
Feel free to speculate personality types of your favorite characters based on

list I was using. No matter how much we all argue about characters, we gotta admit that Kishi created pretty darn awesome personalities! Thanks for reading.:yayy:
