The 7 swordsmen was a nice touch.
Gai's going to die, but he better die fighting.
His death has to be worth it like a Jiraiya death or an Asuma death./

Because a rikudo flashback would actually have a massive impact on the story, unlike Guy's which is merely stalling before naruto and sasuke get better...

I actually liked how his death was handled, not too many flashbacks but impactful none the less.

I liked the chapter, least we got to see where Gai learnt the gates from and a bit of his back story. Manga isnt all about fighting lol otherwise it would jist be another DBZ replica. 5 stars. Only thing that bothered me was that the characters were right, he didn't need to open the last gate. I feel that Kishi just forced it.

C'mon guys, Gai is about yo die and Kishi wanted to give us a bit of his past, we all know this week gonna be nothing else but talking and so it was.! And for the records the fact that Gai's father was Gennin doesn't mean anything, We have the Naruto case for example.!!​

I loved it. Didn't expect a feels chapter, but I enjoyed it.

I'm double hyped to see the 8 gates battle now that there was a whole build up chapter! Maybe that's just me.

Finally seeing his father, and I always wondered about his parents, and then it turns out they faced the 7 swordsman. I loved the flasbacks. And then that epic big drawing of Gai opening the 8th gate. Come on this was so epic. I never thought it would really happen, but Gai is gonna die most likely now.

I do not care about gais past, but kishimotos blatant trolling with flashbacks is notoriously bad. Do we need a flashback every single time a character dies?

It's quite amazing how people immediately call Kishi a troll when they didn't like a chapter. It's like some people think Kishi is a evil little Japanese man who enjoys irritating his readers. Well, I call that childish.

And like you said: you don't care about Gai's past. I'm sure that a lot of other people are glad that Gai got some background this chapter, the majority even I think.

Ya when Minato said you're father wouldn't want you to do this I was like "OH CRAP we might get a short panel of his kage level father and some bad ass parallels or some sh*t". Nope, complete opposite. It's hard for me to hate a Naruto chapter and I haven't hated one since the Kabuto flashbacks but this chapter was a 1.5/10

in my heart of hearts I must say this chapter sucked, I like flashbacks as much as the next guy but honestly I feel like the overall message from this chapter could have been gleaned from 4 or 5 pages and the rest was pure unadulterated filler. obviously kishi was just stretching out these pages or either his flashback pacing has grown extremely terribad. He could have salvaged this chapter by showing his dad actually fight the 7 swordsmen for a few pages, but overall I must say this chapter was a disappointment. I just feels too much like someone trying their hardest to stall until next week's chapter

Waste of time and pages. Kishi is not good at building momentum. He just skips from a place to another. Last week we had Sasuke being saved, now we got to Gai again. He's not good at working on multiple fronts. He simply can't, so he goes straight for a single thing. This is poor writing.

the reason i dont like Most of the Uchiha fanboys is because they Hate everything which doesnt include uchihas.

i can clearly see if this was a chapter with someone like Itachi or sasugay playing with teddy bears for 16 pages. they still wouldnt complain but when it comes to other characters they just cant take it..
