I knew Hashirama cared about Madara, but I had no idea they went as far back as children! It makes a lot of sense now regarding his hesitation and respect toward the Uchiha. Amazing chapter!

This chapter is awesome, seeing both jutsu's really way out the others "LEAGUE" they are insane, seems like clash of the God's. I know the chapter is a bit short and a flash back from flash back. What can I say a great story can't be rushed. 5/5 for me way to go Kishi..

I agree, this was a really good chapter. I wish it would have at least went to 20 pages.

im very satisfied with this chapter.. this is what ive been waiting for a very long time.. the history between hashirama and madara will be unfold... i was always hoping there would be a Gaiden of madara/hashi similar to kakashi gaiden...such a Godly battle, it made me goosebumped when i read the chapter.. hashirama is so f***ing boss... he is called the god of shinobi for a reason...as for madara, badass..just badass...

if Madara matched Hashirama back then with only EMS. madara undoubtly will be stronger now with the Rinnegan. Madara is the strongest shinobi right now. whoever defeats him will be known as the strongest. Naruto will, Hashi won't. period.

A lot of ppl seem to think that Madara is currently stronger than hashi, but when they fought each other that time madara didn't "only" have EMS, he had Kurama full power as well. He has rinnegan and mokuton now, but his skills with mokuton are undoubtedly inferior to hashi's, and the rinnegan has replaced Kurama.

So the way i see it the 2 of them are probably equal in power

Exactly my thoughts. Just a brute strength contest with lots of explosions. What happened to the finese of the old fights where strategy and creativity actually meant something instead of "who can summon the biggest baddest object and hurl it at each other?"

And the madara getting bitter thing is so boring and cliche. Kishi has beat it to death, can't we see something just a little different?

I am relieved for a second I thought I was the only one not caught up in hashirma and madara fanboy ism. I dare anyone to compare the brilliant clever and slick strategic fights of the past to all the resent fights no contest. The manga is turning into who has the biggest demon/diety instead of real ninja action and combat of the past manga. Its a shame what these battles have come to compared to the skillful battles that we used to have and the same goes for the anime but thats another thread.

Yes. Such is the fall of any fiction that makes thing too overpowered. Sorta too late for this now though, haha. But agreed.

Well I guess we'll be getting more than just a flashback of their fight at the VOTE, I'm glad theres more to the firsts story than that as the exact details of their battle is not exactly necessary in answering Sasuke's questions without a larger reasoning to tell it. I gave it 4/5, mainly for the awesome Kyuubi/Susano combo and Hashi's new mode.

Im not sure if this has been predicted before, but what are the chances that if Minato does eventually make it to the battlefield, with or without the other Kage, that the other half of the nine tails' chakra sealed inside him can be transferred by some means to Naruto, giving him the full power of the Kyuubi and a new, final transformation or Jutsu of some sort? Might be a long shot but he has to do at least something now hes back. Wouldn't be surprising if he worked his FTG formula into the seal or generally on Naruto somehow when trying to save him from Tobi so getting there would be no problem.

The same thing that killed dbz is slowly taking the life from this manga too much power to a few chars and lack of power balance distribution for everyone else. The first naruto arcs were better when it came to power ranking. I am not looking forward to the pages that will be wasted detailing young madara and hashirama s relationship. Kishi needs to retire or hire some fresh hungry writers ...I think the manga should end soon..but obviously due to the economy he is deciding to stretch everything. I think its time to read some other mangas that for some reason are getting any spotlight or grand promotion they deserve. This has turned into eastern mystisism and hindu shinto god war poke/yu gi card battles.

Heres hoping after the next 2 or more chapters we see:

some kages who survived what tsunade had planned to do..
whats going on with the kakashi and gai vs tobi standoff
whats going on with yamato
whats going on with HQ
whats going on with orochimaru sasuke and hokages
whats going on with naruto vs madara.

I wish kishi would flash back and forth to current events or things happening instead of sitting us down for storytime telling long drawn out flashbacks that consume all 15 pages.

Everyone is saying that Hashirama and Madara are over powered. I'll have to respectfully disagree. They may have the physical power, the powerful chakra but they can still be defeated. We can assume that Hashirama died at a young age after his fight with Madara because his brother has took his place as Hokage and if you looked at the two when they were revived they were still young. In battles it does not only matter they strength or speed. Technique and Wisdom wins most battles.

As for the flashback of them as children, it is completely plausible for them to meet like that. Yes it was stated at that time that the country was in a state of war, but in times of war not all fight and there are sometimes short periods of rest or peace. I think that they went their separate ways when they got a little older and eventually met on the battle field again. I think that a lot of their actions were heavily influenced by the elders of their respective clans.

As for the battle, It looks like Hashirama is fighting is a defensive manner, He is using defensive techniques to try to rationalize with Madara. Madara on the other hand is not thinking clearly, his judgement and his thing is obscured by his emotions. I don't think we can yet fully say who is better between the two because there are to many facts to consider in this battle.
