hehehe i was also thinking that maybe naruto can put up a sly trick like shikamaru vs hidan; to appear that he is totally damaged after defeating 6 pains, of course if nagato is still out there thinking that naruto is really exhausted and its only a matter of giving a final blow to end him; ill assume that pain would grab the chance and attack him from there with paper girl...
yes maybe he really did a shadowclone before he fought pain...remember his fight with kakuzu? captain yamato said that it was one change with naruto...he now knows how to use his bunshin effectively...and if that's the case, pain would really be screwed - hehehe imagine that one bunshin took all four pains easily...nwei its not the real fight yet...so we're not seeing a one-sided battle so far...WOW that was still a good chapter despite the fact his new technique was still a rasengan.
it looked cool and all, but i've seen it to many times to get excited over it.
I like the idea of naruto hiding in gamabunta's mouth, it would have been the perfect time to create a shadow clone and he probably did, giving the fact he still used clones to make the 2 huge rasengans in the previous chapter.
an other option is that we've been loooking at a clone all along, remember naruto hasn't been touched yet, so if he were smart he would have come out with a bunshin in the first place, since he knew he was up against pein and probably needed a trump card.
so i think naruto's bunshin will stall some time for him to gather natural chakra and come out ato deal with the last 2 appropriately

i thought the same to but naw. if the real naruto was gathering sage energy and the clones is doing all the fighting he wouldnt run out of energy cuz his real body would still be getting the natural energy. the clone wouldnt lose the energy,turn into reauglar naruto, and then the real naruto pop out a toads mouth in sage mode. makes no sense. the other way around makes more sense since his body gains the experince of the clone. i thought he would use 5 or 6 clones to gather the energy popping them off sei-mo-tain-me-osly getting their experince but thats not the case either. if that was the case he wouldnt have been like i need to hurry and kill this one befor i run out of natural energy and he wouldnt be so fatigued after the factor it can be the other way around, a clone is inside bunta gathering energy so pain will be suprised when automatically becomes sage again
