After all, EVERYONE cringed at that Failfession - including Kiba and Yamato, who are 100% neutral shipping-wise.

Its actually pretty believable that he would ask out Sakura because of his rivalry with Sasuke, since Sakura liked Sasuke, and Naruto was always jealous of the attention and stuff that Sasuke gets, but yeah mostof you won't accept this because of the pairing you ship.
