naruto is just an odd case. he's not a genious or even smart in the traditional sense, or book smarts. but he has great street/battle smarts and comes up with great strategies. according to kakashi it's because he was a prankster. plus he perfected/improved on quite a few techniques.

but i don't think he's on minato's level just yet, minato invented a few incredible jutsu, plus his analytical abilities are much better than naruto's at this point in time. as in naruto manages to figure things out with help and come up with an excellent counter strategy, while minato analyses the opponents technique and comes up with a counter at once by himself. but minato's unsurpassed in that aspect, only person who comes close is itachi.

There isn't much left unsaid. But:
the Sexy Jutsu is mostly good on old men, so not a genius jutsu. Minato died early so his full potential remained hidden or unknown. And He was Hokage! So U know he was powerful to begin with. Naruto has the ability to master jutsus in rapid time compared to any senseis, and that is no small thing.

Naruto can't be a genius, it goes against the whole theme of the manga.

Naruto is like lee, able to progress very quickly not because of natural talent or being a genius, but because of character/motivation and his ability to work extremely hard. And he progresses a lot thanks to his clone training method. If minato could make 1000 clones and get year's worth of training done in a day, he would probably be as strong as the SO6P before he died.

By the reasoning of the OP, I would say in that case, Konohamaru is the true genius.

He mastered Rasengan younger than Naruto and without the advantage of being able to summon many, many clones to practice. Wait.. Naruto didn't use Kage Bunshin to perfect the Rasengan, but even still, I think Konohamaru was younger.

Konohamaru could very well BE a genius. We really don't know enough about him to have that opinion.

He DID take out Naraka Path of Pain. It was one of the weaker paths, and apparently he just knocked it unconscious but at the very least Konohamaru could have put Kunais in his eyes or something.

well, I wouldn't say he has surpassed the 4th in terms of genius quite yet. Naruto does have the chakra of the nine tails that has helped him to do things he would otherwise be unable to do. Not taking anything away from Naruto, that was all hard work, but I feel like if Minato had someone preceding him that helped him as much as he helped Naruto and had the chakra of the Nine-tails, that he would be able to do more than Naruto has. for that matter, I think there are several other characters who would also be stronger than Naruto is now if they had his chakra capacity. Plus, Naruto was never really on the educated or intellectual side. He has passion and is a hard worker, I'll give him that. But genius? I think that's too much

He is not much a of a genious, he is more of a hardworker who never gives up, also he can come up with strategies in the battlefield but that's as far as it goes. pretty sure he will make a new tech, all he did so far was just make his predecessors techs better

That would equal 10,400 years of training.

Look i know i have lot of friends here who think that minato the fourth, uchiha itachi, orochimaru, gara, shikamaru r the genius among all. but guys a person who masterd an A leveled technic when he is a genin, a person who just not only mastered the fourth hukage's ninjutsu in a very short time but also completed it and took it to a new level, a person who mastered the sage mode in such a perfect way that his master, one of the legendary shanin couldn't do, a person who always found a way where all thought lose their hope, is not a genius?????:shrug:...guys i wanna know your opinion.

i agree with you dude.

Naruto as a genin learnt an A level tech in "rasengan". a jutsu his father invented. hard work, determination,inclination to succeed were the primary characteristics. and Naruto learnt it in seven days after a challenge by tsunade. Naruto mastered the tech and leveled it up higher a lot of times surpassing his father.

Naruto was still a genin, technically, when he learnt "sage mode". a jutsu tech level any sannin would be envious. and yes, his master jiraiya did not perfect it. Naruto reached the perfection. again hard work, determination, understanding the process, and the inspiration from a pervy master helped Naruto accomplished a "deadly and godly" mode as a sage.
Naruto will even be a badder ass if he learns to "fuse" with ma & pa frog" to prolong a sage mode status. and imagine a "frog genjutsu" even a sasuke a madara or tobi-madara a kabuto could not escape, this will be a reality soon.

Naruto is still a genin - tecnicality aside -but capable to lead the 5 kage nations. at least the power side, and not the kid-side will be enough to earn the respect of all the shinobi countries. Gaara did it, Naruto can.

Lastly,

we will see a NARUTO IN KYUUBI MODE,
we will see a NARUTO IN SAGE MODE,
we will see a NARUTO IN SAGE MODE FUSED WITH MA & PA FROG

I didn't say minato could create that many. I said a big reason why naruto progresses so much is that he can create so many clones for his training. And then I went on to say that if minato could do the same thing he would progress waaaaaaaaaay faster since he is a once-in-a-generation genius.
