you know whats funny if they showed a filler about sasuke and his MAngekyou evryone would watch or better yet the 4th and that kakashi story or even better Naruto doing something with the kyuubi. what im trying to say is if you like a character you wouldnt mind watching there fillers. plus the fillers are apart of the story they show you things that the manga didnt have time to put into it. and also thats how you learn to appreciate that character for who he/she is. example in the manga when asuma died thats all they showed. but in the anime they showed asuma history as a shinobi and the 12 guardian shit. and really made us look into the character of asuma and showed him on dates with kurenai shit like that and then they showed shikamarus frustration and anger that his sensei was killed infront of him. they never showed this in the manga. but they do in filler episodes.
so if rock lee dies in naruto manga in the war this filler episode will remind you of how dedicated he is to his ninja way, but he died.(just an example)
