Chapter Nineteen: Despite the odds
?You know I have to admit I was expecting it to be a little brighter in here.? madara said while sparking up one of his many fireworks he kept on him. ?Least we can see better now, this one burns really bright for awhile.?
?Honestly madara it?s a cave in a mountain, where the hell did you think the light was going to come from?? Rei Uchiha asked as she tried to navigate them through the caves structure.
?Well I don?t know, its just one of those things you don?t think about too much, you know what I mean guys?? madara said looking back to see if anyone could offer their support.
zanji seemed to be too interested in observing the cave however, the tall sharp walls of stone seemed to have him hypnotized while Pride kept his head low and kept on pace with Zonder who was trying to avoid giving madara any hint that he was paying attention.
?Well whatever, you know what I mean.? madara said turning back to see where Rei Uchiha was leading them to. He stopped just less than an inch before he almost slammed into her.
?Why?d you stop?? madara asked her
?Look down.? She said.
madara peeked over her shoulder to find the path had ended, below there was nothing but a bottomless pit with a tiny stone bridge in the middle of it, however madara?s firework was not bright enough to show them where it lead to in the darkness, only that it was the only way to continue.
?I knew we should of just gone over, we have already wasted enough time in here as it is, now we have to go back out and over the mountain, we?ve tripled the amount of time this should take!? Zonder said walking up to the bottomless pit.
?What the hell are you going on about? There is a bridge right there, I am sure it leads out of this place.? zanji said taking a step next to him and pointing.
?zanji is right, by all calculations and thinking in a logical manner that bridge does lead to an exit on the other side but take into account some things. We don?t know how strong that bridge is, what if we get half way on it and it collapses, we would be screwed. Another thing is what if the exit on the other side his somehow blocked, we?d be wasting more time and be putting ourselves in more danger, it is so sketchy.? Rei Uchiha said looking unsure of what to do.
?Alright then, I?ll check the bridge out then.? zanji said.
?And just how are you go-? Rei Uchiha did not get a chance to finish her sentence as zanji had already jumped down straight for the bridge.
?IDIOT WE HAVE ROPES!? Rei Uchiha yelled at him as he fell towards the bridge.
?*Reckless idiot? Zonder thought to himself but he could not help being some what impressed with zanji?s boldness.
zanji slammed down hard on the stone bridge and the cave seemed to shake a little but the bridge did not give way, it held strong and zanji was fine.
?Alright guys take the ropes and come down here, Bridge is as tough as my left nut!? He yelled up to them with a laugh.
Slowly they tied the ropes to some secure rocks behind them and scaled down the side of the mountains inside and to where zanji had landed. madara?s firework seemed to be dimming a little as he approached.
?Alright I?ll lead us down this way, Pride and madara follow behind me, Rei Uchiha you bring up the rear and Zon you try not to be in the way.? zanji said as he walked down the bridge.
madara laughed as he followed while Rei Uchiha gave Zon a nervous smile which caused him to hold his tongue and keep going. They walked a little while before the bridge began to get narrow and seemed to be less stable as they all passed over it.
?Lets turn back, this seems too dangerous now zanji and there is no exit in sight.? Rei Uchiha said in a worried voice.
?Hmm madara, toss one of them exploding fireworks you got up ahead but don?t damage the bridge.? zanji said turning back to him.
?No problem.? madara said pulling out a large red firework and pulling its string, it flew off into the darkness ahead only leaving a trail of sparks behind. A few seconds later it blew lighting up the cave, the walls surrounding them were no where in sight and the path only seemed to stay as narrow as it was but up ahead they could see a wall and what appeared to be an entrance back to another cave which would lead them outside.
The light from the fireworks dimmed and zanji gave madara a pat on the back in approval.
?Well there you go, looks like we are just about out of here.? zanji said continuing on. It only took them a few more minutes to get to the wall they?d seen moments ago. zanji, Pride and madara began climbing up slowly while Zonder and Rei Uchiha prepared to follow.
?You first.? Zonder said.
?Okay? wait where is my map bag?? Rei Uchiha said looking puzzled. ?Oh darn I think I dropped it a few feet back when I was reorganizing things.?
Zonder began climbing the wall while Rei Uchiha ran back down the bridge a few steps when the bridge gave way at last and crumbled under her as she went down. zanji, Pride and madara turned with looks of horror on their faces as Rei Uchiha fell with the bridge.
?Ahhhhhhh.? She screamed and as zanji, madara and Pride looked at each other for a quick solution and before they could act Zonder dove off the wall and straight for her. Using the falling stone for support he pushed himself closer to her while avoiding the falling rocks. In no time he grabbed her and secured her in her arms.
?YOU IDIOT YOU ARE GOING TO DIE TOO, YOU SHOULD OF LET ME FALL!? She yelled at him as she hung on with tears of fear in her eyes.
?Relax, I?ve got everything under control.? Zonder said using a rock to push them closer towards the caves wall. He pulled out his sword and jammed in directly into the wall as it scraped and slowed them down to a stop.
?You.. you saved us both.?Rei Uchiha said looking up at him in shock.
?We can?t die yet.? Zonder smiled back at her.
As he climbed back up with her a rope greeted them half way to the top, zanji, Pride and madara were at the top ready to pull them up. Zonder took the rope and him and Rei Uchiha were pulled to the top.
?Thank God your okay.? madara said attempting to hug Rei Uchiha but she just shoved him away, Pride gave her a slight smile and decided to try not to approach while Miburo patted her on the back and walked over to Zonder.
?Not bad, thanks for saving her even though we were already on it.? zanji said calmly.
?Whatever.? Zonder said walking ahead. At last light broke from the other side and they were out of the cave. The light however was not from the sun but instead a village below was on fire. Lighting in the dark clouds swirled above and one dark mountain could be seen in the distance where most of the lighting had seemed to gather.
?What in the world?? Zonder said as shock and confusion appeared on his face.
?Welcome to the South lands, Zonder.? Pride said.

?What? This can?t be right, I?ve been to the South a few times, this is nothing like what I?ve seen.? Zonder said turning to shodaime.
?Zonder there are a few things that need to be cleared up I see, you see-? but before shodaime could finish a loud scream from below rang out. Zonder turned around to see several men corning a woman in the burning village below.
?Hold that thought shodaime we gotta help that woman out.? Zonder said as he began to run towards her however shodaime nor anyone else made the effort to move prompting Zonder to turn back to them.
?What are you waiting for? She needs us!? Zonder yelled.
?Its not our place to step in here Zon, its best to mind your own business and stay focused on the objective at hand.? shodaime said calmly.
?**** that I?m going!? Zonder yelled as he turned and ran down the hill towards the village on fire. Four men in armor had surrounded the woman who was in nothing more then an old dirty white dress and was shaking as they approached.
?I get dibs on her first since I flushed her out.? one of the men said
?Whatever just clean her up for us when you are done.? Another said as the other two laughed and were ready to strike.
As she was about to be grabbed the front of the house behind her blew off forcing the man behind her forward and on the ground in front of her from the impact, out walked Zonder with his sword in hand and ready to fight.
?Who the **** are you boy?? One of the men demanded.
?Zonder, senior Mod Soldier of the Staff Kingdom and you guys are out of line? Zonder said.
?A Mod Soldier all the way out here? Really now I never thought I?d see the day, I heard a rumor that they were going to try to restore order here but I didn?t think they would be that stupid.? The man to the left said.
?Yeah me either, let?s rip him apart and show them why they can never regain the South.? Said the man to the right, the man in the middle who seemed to be the leader nodded and they charged in straight at Zonder.
Zonder swung his sword across directly at them but they separated, one took his left side, the other his right and the man in the middle jumped and as attacking from above. This unexpected strategy caught Zonder off guard as he put his sword up to block the above attack but both his sides were slammed by the iron poles the two men had and he fell to one knee as he swung his sword in a circle forcing them back.
?That 3 year old tactic worked on a Mod Soldier? Man the standards must have gone to shit.? The man in front of him laughed as the other two joined in.
?Yeah I didn?t think you idiots would do anything more then a straight forward attack, looking at your faces you seem far from smart, but what the hell I?ll put some effort into it just for you hitting me.? Zonder said holding his sword in front of him with both hands and gathering spirit energy. The woman whom he had rushed to help was behind him as her face was in fear not knowing what was going to happen.
?Here we go.? Zonder said with a smile as he disappeared in front of them.
?Where did he go!? The man on the left asked but his question was soon answered as Zonder popped up behind him and sliced his back right through the armor and laying him down from the strike. He then charged right at the man opposite to him and knocked the pipe out of his hand with one swing of his mighty sword. Following the swing up with a hard punch filled with energy right to his face and he was sent flying back into a burning carriage behind him. Zonder turned his attention to the last man in front of him who was in shock at Zonders speed.
?Crack the ground and strike him down, Tenserrie? Zonder said swinging his sword at the man as a burst of energy cracked through the ground at him and engulfed him with an explosion on contact.
Zonder put his sword away and walked back over to the lady who was still full of fear, He stepped on top and over the man he knocked out upon his arrival and right to her.
?Its okay no ma?am, they won?t bother you again.? He said extending his hand to her, she slapped it away and ran away into the blaze out of sight.

I grew up here Zonder, in this which can only be described as the devils left nut of a land the South. There has not been any peace here since I can remember, my mother abandoned me at 6 and I fended for myself until I was 14, it was hard but here everyone has their own motives so you trust no one. Me and zanjis paths crossed a little while after I turned 14 and soon we had become good friends even in this land of hell.? shodaime said never breaking eye contact.
zonder, not to the heart of the South, the area you saw was nothing more then a gap on the way here, that green and sunny area is not the real South. You have been being lied to since you joined the staff team, all of you Mod Soldiers and SMods have been.? shodaime now seemed to be growing angry as he spoke.

?A man said to be just as powerful as the Admins themselves but who he is, that?s a mystery only those selected by him to enter the castle know. I hope you are ready to find out because were heading there now to end this mission.?shodaime said turning and beginning his walk towards their destination through the blazing village.
?If they lied then it was for our own benefit but the lack of trust is still concerning, DOMI told you this shodaime ?? zonder asked.
?Yes and I was asked to tell you personally upon our arrival here.? shodaime said continuing to walk forward.
Zonder?s mind raced with questions and fears, why had Domi not told him before he left? Was there really someone here as strong as the Admins? And was there a hidden purpose behind this mission? The only way to find out was to complete it and get back to Staff Kingdom as fast as possible.

Chapter Twenty One: A dangerous meeting
Zonder and company continued to move at a swift pace through the South lands as they were quickly approaching the dark mountain ahead, along the way plenty of bandits and robbers could be seen but Zonder did his best to ignore anything wrong he saw and keep going on with the team.
?Alright guys up ahead there is a path that leads straight to the mountain, we can follow it up and be there within 30 minutes.? shodaime said still leading the group. They took the path as they entered the forest and up it they went. The path was warm under their feet as if it was being heated, it was bumpy and cracked as if it was traveled a lot but since they had got on it there had been no one in sight.
?Why is it so empty here, I would think in these heavy woods there would be all kinds of lurking activity but I sense nothing.? Zonder asked Pride.
?This path is known as The Trail of Death and the mountain we are headed for is known as the Murder Horn, few dare venture this path their and those who do either don?t come back or don?t come back complete.? shodaime replied.
?So wait you have never been here before, none of you guys have?? Zonder asked.

?Keep moving up shodaime said jumping from rock to rock as he and the others ascended the mountain upwards, shodaime finally came to the top and caught a break from the wind and heat below as the others soon followed.

?We sure are high, I hope its safe, we were going up through that smog for awhile.? Rei Uchiha said looking around.
?Well yeah we are pretty high up there but it will be easier to move now and find that castle.? shodaime said also looking around.
Madara however had made his way over to the very edge of the spot they were now on and was looking down and in the distance.

The ground reformed in the spot they dropped so there was no way to get to them now.

The girls eyes widened and she lowered her weapon as she approached and circled them slowly.
?Mod Soldier you say, well isn?t today just my lucky day.? She said cooly.

?Do you know a way out of here, we need to make contact with our group again and take care of whoever is running this place.? Zonder told her quickly.
?Yeah I know a way out, with you two here it should actually be possible to get out of this Hell now.? She said gesturing for them to follow her. Zonder paused for a moment but then he and madara followed her with nothing better to do.
?We will need to get my friend who is just up ahead, no dout he is taking care of some trolls himself as we have been these last few days, oh sasuke, we have some guests.? jessie said as the smile on her face curved in delight.
Next Chapter: Escaping The Chamber of Hell
Zonder and company continued to move at a swift pace through the South lands as they were quickly approaching the dark mountain ahead, along the way plenty of bandits and robbers could be seen but Zonder did his best to ignore anything wrong he saw and keep going on with the team.
?Alright guys up ahead there is a path that leads straight to the mountain, we can follow it up and be there within 30 minutes.? shodaime said still leading the group. They took the path as they entered the forest and up it they went. The path was warm under their feet as if it was being heated, it was bumpy and cracked as if it was traveled a lot but since they had got on it there had been no one in sight.
?Why is it so empty here, I would think in these heavy woods there would be all kinds of lurking activity but I sense nothing.? Zonder asked Pride.
?This path is known as The Trail of Death and the mountain we are headed for is known as the Murder Horn, few dare venture this path their and those who do either don?t come back or don?t come back complete.? shodaime replied.

Chapter Twenty Two: Escaping The Chamber of Hell
As they walked through the burning hot cave it was more then clear this was a place not meant for humans, along the sides of the walls some heads could be seen peaking over rocks, no dout these were the trolls wondering around down here. They seemed to just be observing for now because they were walking in a group but had they been alone they surely would have attacked.
“Hey miss, I didn’t catch your name.” MADARA said following her as she lead the way.
“It’s jessie.” She said as they kept walking.
“*I have heard that name before I think but I can’t remember where*” Zonder thought to himself as MADARA complimented her on the name.
They walked until they came to someone sitting on top of a pile of dead trolls, he was poking them suggestively with his fingers and seemed to be unaware of MADARA, Zonder and jessie’s arrival.
“BISHAMON what the hell are you doing.” JESSIE said stopping behind him, he twitched at the name.
“I told you not to call me that.” sasuke said turning around, he was surprised to see she was not alone.
“Ahh who are your friends jessie? I didn’t know more people were sent down here, I guess To-” He was cut off at once as jessie had rushed over and kicked him right in the stomach, he fell forward on her shoulder in pain. “Why did you do that?” He asked.
“Shut up, one of them is a Mod Soldier we don’t want them knowing anything about Tobi.” She whispered as she pulled him off her.
“Sorry about that bishamon, thought I saw a bug on you.” She said.
sasuke looked up at her with a dirty look but then smiled as if everything was okay while madara had began laughing out loud, only Zonder noticed something was not right and to remain careful around them, most of all jessie.
“Now guys while I am not sure how we all got here I think I know how to get out.” jessie said pointing above. t was hard to see from this far away but there was a large door in the shape of a circle right on the top of the caves ceiling.
“I have been piling these trolls here hoping to use them to spring me up for more to reach it but its taking awhile, its too high up to just jump to and the walls are too hot to climb so it was the only thing I could think of.” sasuke said standing back up and moving towards them.
“Yes and as dumb as that is bishamon is trying his best.” jessie said laughing, sasuke shot her another dirty look while madara and Zonder stood there listening.
“Now what I plan to do is have us all work together by being tied to the same rope, we jump straight in a line upwards and as one of us loses altitude the person right behind them uses their back to jump again and on so that the last person can grab the door and open it which should get us out.” jessie said finishing her plan and moving to grab a long rope that was behind the pile of dead trolls.
‘This rope is made out of troll hair so it will hold strong.” jessie said, madara looked at her as if she was crazy but did not say anything.
“Alright, sounds good, as high up as that door is its no wonder you could not get it done with just two people.” Zonder said lining up on the rope and tying it to himself, sasuke, madara and jessie did that same. Zonder was first then madara followed by sasuke and jessie. They moved to the center of the cave and prepared to jump.
“Okay Zonder start us off strong!”jessie said. He looked back at her with a nod, although he was not too trusting of her this seemed like the only way out so he decided to give it his all and pushed off jumping straight at the top as the others followed.
As Zonder slowed down and fell madara stepped on his back and pushed off straight to the top forcing him down but he did not fall since he was attached, the force of the rope stopping him though, it slowed madara’s jump down a little and now sasuke jumped off his back upwards. Although they were being pulled back a little with each jump they were gaining more ground, as sasuke stopped going up and fell jessie used him for the final jump and she propelled them up far enough to the point she reached out and grabbed the door.
“Your all so fucking heavy, my God.” jessie yelled back trying her hardest to hold on, the door was hot and the weight of the 3 men below her was not making anything easier. She reached for her sword quickly and jammed it into the doors lock as it shattered, the door slid open and they fell a little with it. A hot breeze greeted them and there was a path that would hopefully lead to the outside.
“Everyone, I will climb up your bodies to the door and pull us all through real fast, just hang on a little while longer.” Zonder said preparing to move up.
“I have a better idea.” jessie said swinging her sword down past madara’s legs and slicing the part of the rope keeping madara and Zonder connected. Zonder and madara’s eyes widened in shock and fear as they began to fall all the way back down.
“Enjoy your stay Mod scum, you won’t be leaving anytime soon.” jessie said pulling herself and sasuke up into the doors path and closing the door behind them as her laugh echoed through.
Zonder and madara fell all the way back to the floor below and slammed into the ground. The heat of the floor forced them to pick themselves up even though they had been hurt from the fall.
“That stupid bitch, I knew it was wrong to trust her, DAMNIT!” Zonder yelled his head bleeding from the impact of the fall.
“Well at least things can’t get any worse.” madara said trying to keep some faith while he could feel himself bleeding on the inside.
As madara said that some trolls began to appear from all ends, they had large clubs and seemed to be looking at Zonder and madara as their next food source as they drooled.
“If we survive this, I’m killing that bitch.” Zonder said reaching for his sword as the trolls attacked.
Next Chapter: BIBI and SHODAIME begin
