Ahh only just got back and I'm exhausted lol, anyway I won't say much because weve both already said a lot and I respect your points, just out of curiosity though, do you think Rasengan would have pierced Gaara's Ultimate Shukakku Shield? Chidori? IMO "Chidori Lament" or "Vermillion Rasengan" (As they are referred to in Ninja Storm when you play as one tailed Naruto or Cs2 Sasuke) would be able to make dents, as kimimaro did, but still not cut all the way through. I really wish Gaara had used it more than ONCE lol, Gaara is my main man and I wish he had more iconic moves to talk about, yknow? It's like his whole fighting style gets boiled down to "getting through his sand defense" or "being crushed by his sand control" . This is honestly not at all related to our topic anymore sorry lol.
Yeah shit sucks :p

Well yeah, I'm fairly confident that the 2 techs would break through. Base chidoris make huge craters in boulders and crap like that, and when used effortlessly broke through Gaara's sand the first time. Random Rasengan #894 matched Sasuke's full power chidori in an instant, and again at VotE it prooved its superiority....and the water tank incident. But yeah it's not that it's weak it's just that those 2 attacks are too strong.

It's not necessarily "which one's stronger in a clash", Sasuke for one can foresee pretty much anything from Kimimaro, if they're both coming at each other(lol) then Sasuke just ducks to one side and stabs him with chidori when his spear misses completely. Naruto can do the same and his chakra cloak is 100% independent.

Keep in mind this is the first time rasengan was used by base Naruto rofl:

LOL oh jesus THAT rasengan, to be fair, the debut of jutsu are usually far more dramatic and intense than when they are used after, im pretty sure most of naruto's rasengans even in p2 don't look as brutal as that one XD

But yeah point made, i posted on a thread earlier today and talked about how Rasengan and Chidori are NOT the same at all, people look at them in black and white claiming Rasengan>Chidori or Rasengan<Chidori. here I shall paste my analogy from earlier:

Please Read > ?

You guys are GOOFS, they don't do the same thing at all. just because they are both held as visible chakra in the user's hand.

Chidori = Piercing acute edge combined with breakneck speed for assassination
Rasengan = spiraling pressure over a wide area that expands and throws you with great force.

It's like a knife vs. a club. both can easily kill you. the club is larger and requires less accuracy, but it is heavier so it is harder to use. The knife is smaller and requires a steady hand to be accurate, but it is quick and lightweight.

the difference in rank IMO is based on the difficulty of learning the technique. Rasengan is a higher rank because it requires perfect shape manipulation of chakra, whereas chidori just appears as lightning.

FEEDBACK ON THIS ANALOGY?

Needless to say, there was NO feedback, wasted post... loll

Lol yeah, well it still happened anyway and the KN1 rasengan was much stronger as was the CS2 Chidori. I agree with your analogy that they're 2 different attacks so you're right about that, but both of them still work perfectly to get past Kimimaro's bones. Chidori pierces through and kills him, Rasengan just blasts though.
