And in the end, it all lead to friendship. NaruSaku had MANY chances to take the road to canon but it did not accomplish those moments because out of 700+ chapters Sakura's feelings for Sasuke did not change.
People can cry out azzpull on NH and SS but yet ignore, a lot can happen in 6 years and it obviously it did.
Yeah,it did turn out as NaruHina,but there was alot more ground to say NaruSaku,than NaruHina throughout the whole manga.In terms of logic,NaruSaku Shippers win,but in terms of results NaruHina fans win.

NaruSaku Logic: They believe Naruto loved Sakura when there was no indication of LOVE besides the physical attraction that Naruto had for Sakura. The guy thought she was beautiful. You've been in that situation, that ain't love. That's just your hormones and brain telling you, you want to mate.

That was completely fake and it was shoved down Naruto's throat and he knew it immediately. If anything that was an indication for NaruSaku to end there, but no of course. People like to create illusions from nothingness, as if they had Yin chakra.
The last point was when Sakura hugged Naruto after the Pain arc. Can someone explain to me how that was romantic? I felt nothing of the sort. She hit the guy! Tell me when your brother/sister doesn't hit you when you're doing something outrageously stupid! Sure, Kushina hit Minato but you could tell her passion when doing so. Sakura's was totally biased on her side thinking for Naruto, caring for him, as if he was family (which he pretty much is).
People forget that Naruto's promise to Sakura was to bring Sasuke back, and Naruto is no idiot. Every date, every time he mentioned Sakura as his girlfriend, did you honestly believe that was the truth? He has no idea who he loved, he is a confused man as it is. Going through all of this shit during the war, yet people have some realization that Naruto loved Sakura, and she loved him back that way?

The only person who had shown that love to Naruto was Hinata, but when was there time for romance? I'm not stating that NaruHina had more development than any other pairings. What I am saying is that if you use COMMON SENSE the pairings were obvious from the beginning.

I'm defending the troll master Kishimoto and I agree that some of the plot holes he has are quite frankly hilarious, but to say he is bad at romance is another thing for the main pairings.
Sure Naruto thought Sakura was beautiful but he liked her for her, remember when he transformed into Sasuke in part 1 and got to know her a bit more on a personal level? He said he thinks he knows why he likes her so much. Naruto risked his life against Gaara to save her, Sasuke told Sakura this and it's at that time that she started to like Naruto more and didn't treat him as she use too.
You do know Naruto only thought it was weird that she came all that way to tell him she loves him instead of waiting until he got back and he only said Sakura was lying when she said she didn't love or care about Sasuke anymore; this is shown by Naruto thinking back to her crying about Sasuke in part 1. It shows him thinking of this when she's talking about not loving him anymore. Why would Kishi show this when she's talking about not loving Sasuke instead of after her saying she loves Naruto?
She hit him for being rash, the slug told her and team Gai that Naruto just beat Deva Pein and was really exhausted and that he was heading to the real Pein and didn't want backup. She hit him for that reason, that shows she really cares about him as she hugs him right after glad he's safe and that he protected the village. Minato compared Sakura to Kushina when he saw her hit Naruto so for all we know Kushina did the exact thing to him in the same way many times.
And? He told Sai that he will tell Sakura how he feels after bring Sasuke back, this is 3 years after making that promise to Sakura. She told him to forget it back during the confession yet in one of the latest chapters he mentioned fulfilling that promise to Kakashi before he went to fight Sasuke. He obviously know who he has strong feelings for if he's always protecting her, thinking about her, asking her on dates, putting her needs before his own (Sai said this to Sakura when he told her how Naruto feels).
Why would Naruto be surprised? He knows how Sakura felt about Sasuke since part 1 but he still wants to tell her how he feels and see if he can show her that he's the right one for her. Why else would he still love her 3 years after seeing her cry for Sasuke? How did Hinata show she love him? Trying to fight Pein off, giving him medicine during Chunin exam, and giving him good advice 2 times and talking to him about 6 times in the whole Manga? Sakura heals Naruto in Shippuden a couple of times, went up to 4 tails Naruto trying to help Naruto and could have been killed if Yamato didn't stop the 4 tails, believes in Naruto as shown many times in Shippuden, defends him against Sasuke's verbal bashing, was first person of K12 he told he was a Jinchuuriki, kept him alive while saying she won't let him die no matter what.
You can say NaruHina is confirm but you can't say there wasn't more development for NaruSaku. Sakura was actually there for Naruto for many things that he went through so already had that bond while we see more bond between Hinata and Kiba than with Naruto
I agree with you, OP. Every point was pretty much spot on. And honestly, NS has been losing since Naruto made the lifelong promise to bring Sakura's true lover back to her.
