Neji's death was bullshit.

Almost every death in the series that pertains to Naruto/Sasuke are just for their character development.

In this instance it was to develop Naruto, Hinata, and their relationship.

They both grew from his death in positive ways.

What I felt about Neji's death is the same I felt about the J-Man's death.

"Damn, that's ****ed up. They killed the big homie."

Only dumb-asses are going to say that Neji died for NH alone. I won't point any fingers because I'd rather not get banned.

But you know who you are.
If you want to get technical with this then yes, Neji did die for Naruto and Hinata, and he died to protect them, but that still doesn't justify why Neji had to die right off the bat, all for Naruto and Hinata to bond and become closer. If Kishimoto's endgame for Neji's death was to die protecting Hinata and Naruto's relationship, then I call shit. That was just a cheap cheesy way for Hinata to comfort Naruto and mourn for Neji's death for about 30 seconds and then continue on with their lives.

NH was never properly connected, so to have a character like Neji to end his life for them is disgraceful.

And Jiraiya's death was actually developed well, and it was a fitting situation to end Jiraiya because there was nothing left for Jiraiya to do. He had his time and he already gave Naruto everything that he needed. Neji was still young and he could have still gotten stronger and changed the Hyuga, but I guess that is out of the question, eh?

Or how about he did all of that before he died?

Developed as a character in part two. Than dieing in the war like he did.
So you're saying that Neji already did everything that he needed to do and that his death was acceptable?

No what I am saying is that the only reason his death is not acceptable is because he never got a chance to develope as a character in part 2. It felt random for that reason. So I blame his developement before that more than his death.

Neji's lack of development must also be a reason why Kishi decided to kill him off. Gaara and Kakashi got spared because they were actually developed in Shippuden. Can't say the same for Shizune or Onoki though.

I dislike Kishi for what he did with the side characters. Unfortunately this guy was one of them. But realistically him dieing is better than him being in the background with no purpose. You need to also remember that this was the War arc, so someone importent had to die.

Neji didn't die right off the bat.

He came close to dying in the war a few times.

You act as if the war had just started and he was killed off and said, "I'm dying so you guys can bump uglies" If anything. You're basically shitting on Neji's death more than you believe NH has.

Kishi portrayed Neji's death as Neji finally understanding his father's choice. He went out on his own terms. Protecting the people he cared about.

It pretty much means people in this world are willing to die for you. So your life isn't something that can be thrown away like that.

NARUTO'S ATTITUDE DURING MOST OF THE WAR WAS: "I CAN DO THIS BY MYSELF (almost) AND NO ONE'S GOING TO DIE ON MY WATCH"

It didn't occur to him that people would die like that. He had tunnel vision on Obito so when Neji got his insides blown out protecting him is when he finally got the picture.

They didn't continue on with their lives as in the Epilogue and Chapter 699. They were mourning his death.

The J-Man's death was nothing more than Naruto's character development and the introduction of the themes "War" . "Enduring", "Pain" and "The concept of peace".

That's what his death amounted to. It wasn't developed and he had a lot to give Naruto. One being a God-Father. (although he was pretty shitty at it).

Not to mention his death; It was rather cliche, but well executed. I mean the guy was talking to the love of his life "about when he'll get back" or "How he won't die". The death flags were screaming "He's about to die, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT"

Neji's death, like Minato's (and kushina's) were tragedies of youth. Dying young. Dying before your potential was fully realized.

Neji didn't die with regrets.

You're too focused on Neji's reasons for dying rather than the reason why Neji died.

Neji's reasons for dying is the reason he died...

You act as if some force of Nature threw him in front of those spikes without his consent.

He knew full well of what he was doing and he had the resolved to do so.

He died Developing the following:

The themes:
("Death" "Enduring" "Naruto's Nindo" "Fate")

Naruto:

Hinata:

NaruHina:

Yes he talked about this exact topic and said Neji died to bring NaruHina come closer.

That's it?

I thought it was something worse. I thought it was like "Neji died because he was expendable and I didnt really care for his character."

Anyone can see that isn't all that developed due to the result of his death.

If Kishimoto didn't try to focus on making NH closer through some cheesy cop out then Neji would have never died. Kishi picked the wrong time to try and come up with a scene with Naruto and Hinata, and that time was the sole reason for Neji's death.

Naruto's nindo, Lady Hinata, The Hyuga, friendship, caged bird. These words are overshadowed by the simple fact that Neji died so that Naruto and Hinata could get another moment together and to foreshadow possible NH future development. Kishi's damn words.

Wasn't really overshadowed for me. The Caged Bird panels were well done. and lasted an entire chapter. Unlike the hand holding moment.

But kishi said so. Can't really argue with his words.

Well the real question is. Do you feel Kishi needed to do this to bring NaruHina closer?

Not at all.

Neji didn't have to die for NH.

That confession should have been enough.
