Dear God 1Told, Shaz and Koshej make some of the most cancerous posts of NDS. Befitting for making damage control for a pitiful character like Hinata.

OT: Even before his death i knew NH would be canon and i do not even give a damn avout that pairing. Whole "cupid" resemblance made me gag. Disgusting really, an author having no respect for his own creation. I have more respect for my 500-1000 word essays i have to write.

cry me a river...nah wait an ocean

I disagree with you saying Nejis death to make the pairing canon, NaruHina is already there even when Neji is alive.

Its the same for Itachi death to make Sasuke more stronger.

I really think he should just stop doing interviews at this point. There's plenty of things about the manga that he could have done better and this is one of them.

That is what Kishimoto said not me. He had Neji die to play Cupid :|

This is a serious question so I would like your honest responses. Honestly not bashing :|
How do you feel about the sole purpose of Neji's death being to make your pairing canon?
Proud.
Apathetic
Guilty
He was what brought NH together after all. Well that and the movie

I would also like to hear the reason for your feelings as well.

NaruHina was canon long before this, my friend.

- Naruto and Hinata were destined from the moment Kaguya was first sealed.

- This one dates -way- back there and discusses a bit more related to the way in which the relationship between Naruto and Hinata embodies Taoism and the collaborative action of Yin and Yang.

If Neji was too weak to stop the wood splinter, and too pathetic to not just let Naruto and Hinata succumb to natural selection (die) then he deserved his fate.

Neji died. Period.
I think that is what he exists for ultimately

Neji fulfilled his destiny, just as Naruto and Hinata fulfilled theirs.

Neji did not die in order to 'play cupid.'

There are multiple purposes behind Neji's death.

Naruto and Hinata share the same destiny:

Do not take Neji's words, here, lightly.

Protecting Naruto is protecting the destiny of the main branch - because the destiny of Hinata is directly coupled to Naruto's. If my expositions to this effect haven't made this clear enough, "The Last" movie certainly has heaped evidence to this claim.

Neji's death is also used to set up a solidification of Naruto's answer to "Peace."

Keep in mind that, up until this point, Naruto had merely rejected Nagato's solution to peace - which was to try to control the cycle of human suffering by forcing calamity.

Madara and Obito's idea of Peace is very different from the one suggested by Nagato, and after losing Neji, it opened Naruto up for the temptation of a world where his friends could be happy and not have to die (whether or not being turned into a White Zetsu constitutes 'death' is a bit of an unanswered question - it is certainly undesirable - but do the conscious experiences of those within IT fade, or do they continue perpetually?)

Thus, Neji's death sets Naruto up for the actual rejection of Madara's concept of peace. Until that point - Naruto is just fighting because his friends are fighting. The idea that they could all just be happy hadn't been considered by him.

And it was Hinata who fielded that play, expertly (because she's a Taoist Sage).

It was Neji's death that also prompted the theme of "connection" - it was here that Naruto began connecting people using the power of the Nine Tails (and Hinata, here, who served to show him -how- to establish that connection.... because the two of them share a fundamental connection to begin with).

Didn't really think about how absolutely out of left field that idea was, did you? Naruto just suddenly gets the idea to start spreading the Nine Tails' chakra to everyone... and in a moment is able to just make it happen. It was Hinata who planted that idea and who was the person Naruto felt most connected to.

Like I said. Taoist Sage. No one even knows she's done anything unless you are talking about the types of people who try to find anagrams on milk cartons, losing themselves to schizophrenia.

I'm just glad the movie team took that plot point and punted it out the window. Sucks for Neji as a character, but that was just atrocious.

Kishimoto's words
New Kishi Interview
Go to this link to see the video:

Go to this link to see the summary of the video above:

I can’t confirm the translation of the summary of the video, so if you don’t believe this one, go to the website, and find your own translator.

1.When Kishimoto first created Naruto he was inspired by a roadside ramen stall, he wanted to write about a youth eating ramen. his theme is considered questionable, bujt in the end it still became serialized while under doubts.

2.The fourth’s appearance was inspired by carelessly jumbling up kiba and akamaru’s combination. and so naruto father’s image was set.

3.Before the chunnin exams, Kishimoto originally wanted to draw a few more missions, but to ask him to illustrate the whole ninjaverse at one go, kishi says it is very stressful to have to do so many characters, so he asked his assistant for help, and the assistant created Lee using reference from Jackie Chan.

4.In Akatsuki Kishimoto’s fav is Hidan. Kishi was told that the image of Shikamaru smoking can’t possible be animated on TV, but Kishi did it anyway. He tried to make Hidan look not as intidimating

5.Kishi feel that Jiraiya’s death was spectacular, therefore if he was edo tensei, it would be hard to draw naruto’s reaction. that’s why jiraiya did not re-appear.

6.Kishi is troubled by Sakura’s popularity among the readers. While he was drawing covers, it was easy drawing naruto and sasuke, but for sakura kishi have to spend more time re-drawing and adjusting, worrying that he might draw her ugly. sakura’s family is not revealed because of popularity reasons, but hinata with low number of appearances were consistently popular with the readers, kishi once had the idea to change hinata to the heroine.

7.he let neji die for naruto and hinata to be closer, that’s how hinata brought her daughter to visit his grave in chapter 700. naruto’s son boruto and neji is the same meaning, this is all intended early on.

8. before naruto KO enemies kishi would use several different angle shots to show the same move, this is inspired by jackie chan’s martial arts film. also when doing KO scenes kishi don’t like to draw the character faces, he feel that revealing faces will dimish the impact of the body moving and the artwork.

9.At the end when Naruto and Sasuke fight, the original intention is that they finish while holding hands, but kishi changed his mind and cut their hands, making a more gory ending.

10.When NARUTO ends, Kishi introduces next year’s movie and naruto exibition 2015, revealing that orochimaru, kabuto, and lesser characters will be re-appearing in the boruto series, to finish the main plot. then kishi says he will be relaxing for the time bring, call an assistant to discuss about the new series. it is unclear whether the new series will still be centered around ninjas or around a totally new theme.

EDIT: A translator i trust, also said Kishi said this:

1)Kakashi got more popular than Naruto so he had to decrease his appearance
2)This 15 years he suffered because of Sasuke and Sakura

3)To make Hinata look more like Naruto’s heroine, Neji had to die like a cupid (to which the interviewer caution, can we air this??)

Believe what u want :coffee:

Well as Kubo would say: "It was the best for him".

Honestly, why everybody still riding on this? Neji became a no name fodder SINCE the beginning of Part II who not only became weaker than Hinata (chapter 526), but also didn't do anything important.

Also, since there are no "pure romances" in Naruto, does it truly matter? Just to make clear how all of Naruto's romances are bad:
1.MinaKushi only happened because Minato saved Kushina from the evil cloud ninjas.
2.If NaruSaku would ever happen it would be only because Sasuke cruely rejected Sakura aka for revenge + Naruto had to save her multiple times.
3.Asuma and Kurenai weren't shown as a couple in the entire Part I yet in the beginning of Part II Kurenai was already pregnant with Asuma's kid and Kishi had to make retcons and never happened flash backs to justify them.

And so on. So this thing not really lowers NH, further, since Naruto and Hinata became a couple two years after the war it not really impacted their relationship neither - as Kubo would say "died for nothing".

Saying that the person closest to Hinata is unimportant so it's ok if he is sacrificed is kinda cruel:|

I mean that's almost like saying it's fine to sacrifice Iruka.

I'm good, 'cause i believe Neji dies for meaningful reasons.

It's just that, Kishi shouldn't say such thing without explaining it more, and more, and more.

Kishimoto's words

Believe what u want :coffee:

The problem is that those aren't Kishimoto's words.

They're an interpreter's words, in an interview with a man who everyone just got upset with because he 'trolled' regarding Naruto and Sakura and intended to set Naruto up with Hinata all along.

A competent mind understands the predicament.

Except, I told you all, well over a year ago, that Kishimoto planned to do exactly that:

Further, I predicted the central nature of the Hyuuga:

These are not just "hey, look at what I think" - these are a patterned analysis of the author's work that have been accurate in predicting the author's intent and thereby the general course of the plot.

Now - that doesn't mean I will always be accurate about everything. I have been wrong about things on occasion.

You can believe an interpreter.

Or you can consider the analysis of an individual who identified the author's intent from his work.

The gulf between us can be summed up as follows:

"Believe what you want" is a statement made by those who only understand how to believe what they want.

I believe what I perceive, child. Wants factor into perception, but reality has a way of being authoritative.

Closest to Hinata? In blood, yes, BUT Neji only started to be kind to her after Naruto beat the crap out of him, because before that he tried to kill her despite never did anything wrong againts him. So close.

Yes, it is true that to Hinata Neji was important, she was even crying in the end of chapter 614 because of his death, but to the readers he became a male Tenten who did nothing until chapter 614.

Also, interestingly Hiruzen was also close to Naruto, yet Naruto never vowed revenge againts Orochimaru, only againts Pain. Isn't it bias already?
