thats not what i meant i meant if they use they shadow and then use the shadow of someone else to lengthen their range...
sorta like how shikarmaru uses his jacket as an extra shadow in his fight with Temari...

The answer is yes he can do it.
But sadley for the nara clan, the shadow jutsus use up WAY too much chakra.
As a matter of fact using someone elses shadow actually lengthens the time, not range
of their shadow so the bigger the shadow the longer they can keep it up. Shikamaru actually was the first Nara to notice that effect thats why hes soooo good with it.
