I'm interested in Nanao. How come she never fights? Why isn'tshe in FK with the others? I like Nanao. I'd like to know more about her, because she just seems like an overlooked character. What do you guys think?

i think she sucks in terms of reiatsu and as such wont be playing any future part...

remember the bit where shunsui and ukitake were up against yammamoto. she couldnt even look in his direction/ stand in his prescence...

shes like a younger in experienced replica of lisa. who just got owned...

Exactly. We haven't. And yes, I do remember. But I doubt many people could take his reiatsu. But I'm confused about why she isn't in FK.

I think its just the relationship she has with Shunsui. Shunsui would never let her fight before him because he doesn't think fighting is fit for a woman (as sexist as that is ). Like when she was going to kill Chad after Shunsui defeated him he stopped her and said something along the lines of killing not something acceptable for a woman to do. Shunsui most likely told her to stay back in the SS.

On a side note.......does anyone else wonder if Aizen has a counter-attack planned? There is literally nobody guarding the SS right now. All the captains and the vice captains (aside from Nanao) are either in Hueco Mundo or Kurakura town. It seems awfully open to an attack right now. O_O

Yeah, Nanao's pretty overlooked. I would guess that Shunsui told her to stay behind in S.S. because he's a bit overprotective of her. It's just his nature. Now, of course we haven't seen her shikai, which is a shame because it feels like missed opportunity. Also, @David Walker, pretty much every lieutenant would have failed the same way when put up against Yama-ji. His reiatsu and power are just unfathomable. O_O

nanoa is exactly that an overlooked character for now anyway i mean what part would she play in this arc

fight with shunsui? no she wouldn't last
fight with motsumoto? she would get raped like motsumoto did

there isn't really role she could have played in this arc so she was overlooked

and i dont think shunsui is overprotective b/c he is sexist (although he is) remember when kisuke was worried about hiyori and shunsui told her that they would all be fine and it turned out he lost lisa (who from the looks he was very fond of) he will go to all ends to make sure it doesn't happen to nanoa

and @david walker: no lieutennt would be able to last a second against yamamoto's reitsu and possibly some of the captains as well

The majority of the vice captains aren't really that strong. Izuru, Rangiku, Iba (who's dead now, so it really doesn't matter). Isane might be good at healing, but when it comes to fighting, she's not good at all. Omeada isn't all that strong, that guy with the white hair and glasses from Squad 1, and Momo can't do squat. Nemu isn't any good, most likely. The only good fighters are really Shuhei and Renji. And then of course we don't know Yachiru's ability, but I'd say she's a beast in little girl form. Nanao would probably not be one of the great fighters since she hasn't fought at all. That's just my opinion.

kira has an amazing ability and he is a very good kido user he defeated someone who was the WORST match for him

motsumoto fought against 3 fraccion who were very strong so you cnt say she wasn't strong

omeda has to be good he is the lieutenant of squad 2 and all of them are strong

squad one guy guy we only saw once and it was against ichigo

momo is mentally disabled

hisagi and renji are good


and then there is yachiru and nanoa

I personally think all vice captains suck, with the exception of maybe yachiru and the squad 1 guy, but then again, the squad 1 guy got 1 hit by Ichigo...So basically i beleive Yachiru is the only one who will be strong vice captain.
As so far Ikkaku and Yumichika have proven to own any vice captain in ability, I'm sure she as a higher ranked member of squad 11 might be stronger ( but then again, both yumichika and ikkaku keep their strongest abilites a secret so I can't be sure ).

Omaeda is pretty weak. Though he was able to hold his own against, and eventually defeat, Nirgge Parduoc so he has at least some skill. And being in the Onmitsukido, he's pretty good in Flash Step. true but still there is no way soi fun would have brought him along if he was useless he is still the lieutenant of the assassin's squad (and what not) he has to be good to some extent

Yeah. And he was a big help in distracting Barragan long enough for Soi Fon to tie the ginjohan to the building and use her Bankai O_O

No lieutenants are really useless IMO since they're the 2nd best in their squads (11th Division is debatable because of Ikkaku and Yumichika, and we don't know Yachiru's abilities).

The only reason some people see characters as useless is because they haven't been seen in action, thus people jump to conclusions before they should =/

when i put that it was just a quick reply. the bit about her sucking in terms of reiatsu is obviously relative... it was just meant to compare her abilities to the curent key prominent characters. your SS captains, vaizards, arancar, Aizen and Ichimaru Gin...

and as such she (like all the VCs - except maybe renji, due to his bankai and closer relationship with ichigo) are filler characters that will just not develop at all, and be used as stopgaps to make battles seem larger and more important.

I mean take the current episodes into account. All the VCs could have just not turned up. They fought, struggled and (most of them) lost badly, against opp that the captains could have easily killed in a strike or two...Yammamoto could have just blasted all the arrancar to ashes in moments...

then do his stupid suicide on Aizen plan...smart move old man xd

She may not be able to stand Yama's reiatsu, but she spends everyday with Kyoraku, who is considered the 3rd strongest captain after Yama and Unohana, so she's gotta be strong enough to be able to be in Kyoraku's presence.
