Ok so there seems to be a general consensus her on the base that Minato, Tobirama, Kakashi, Shikaku, Shikamaru, Orochimaru, Itachi and Madara are all among the elite when it comes to intelligence. That's not in any particular order, by the way.
My question is this: Shouldn't Nagato be considered up there with these guys?
Consider this:
Using just one of his paths, he interprets information from one source (one viewpoint) in one situation (just like a normal person). For instance, a normal one on one fight.
Now if we examine his fight against Jiraiya he used three paths most of the time (the other three came in at the end of the fight). This means he was interpreting information from three DIFFERENT sources (viewpoints) in one situation (he was only fighting Jiraiya). He was able to effectively coordinate his attacks while using information gathered from multiple persons (such as being able to use a viewpoint from on path to dodge an attack aimed at another path) and subdued Jiraiya by doing so.
The same thing applies to the fight with Naruto, the only difference being that instead of interpreting information from 3 different sources (viewpoints), he did so from 6 different sources (viewpoints) in one situation. Even more impressive, although he did end up losing lol
With all that said, I think that the true testament to his intelligence is not those scenario's, rather the true testament to his intelligence is his assault on the Leaf itself. During the assault on the Leaf, he used all six paths. So, once again, he was taking in and interpreting information from 6 different sources (viewpoints). However, the paths did not stick together like they did during the fights against Jiraiya (prior) nor Naruto (later). Instead, they split up. During this time, Nagato was interpreting information from 6 different sources (viewpoints) from 6 ENTIRELY DIFFERENT situations (as opposed to the fights, where all six path were focused on one target and one target alone). That feat alone is enough to put him up there in terms of intelligence to me
Side note: Some people might say that this also qualifies Obito for this realm of intelligence as well because of the fight when he was using the other reanimated jinchuriki, and while I'm not denying that Obito is indeed smart, I would like to point out that Reanimations think and perform (in this case, they didn't think on their own, the basically just moved) on their own, Obito wasn't controlling him like Nagato was controlling the paths. In essence Nagato WAS the paths.
Thoughts?
