That's why they crippled him, needed a way to make the fight more even. I agree that nagato was weakened by kishi so that itachi and gang could defeat him. Nagato, in his prime, should be as difficult an opponent as madara himself

So untrue, many ppl even said genjutsu was Nagato's weakness. It's easy to say in hindsight but I remember being in plenty of debates where ppl claimed crap like finger genjutsu=gg

Certainly finger genjutsu and wouldnt affect him just like most visual genjutsus like 'Pillar of light', 'bringer of darkness'.

However sharingan has hypnotic powers this base overlooks, its no longer mere visual genjutsu.

By that fact no one is immune to genjutsu, not even itachi nor naruto, but the fact is how fast they can break out of it!
