If Nagato had remained evil and under his own control especially at his prime I think it's fair to say those two would have ended up the same way and deader than dead the fact remains itachi saved them

Naruto would punched and killed Nagato then. Only way Nagato would have survived would be due to Konan saving him.

Nagato's prime = 6POP

Plus he himself said that Jiraiya was stronger.

Although true that shizune was pretty much fodder naruto had itachi not intervened would have lost that tug of war he was literally hanging on by the skin of his teeth until he was saved and as for be its pretty fair to say he was next cause the Rinne Chameleon pretty much had him immobilized and both of their souks and body's were going to get fed to the king of hell to be revived later

Ya, if naruto wasn't being held by the chameleon it would of ended easily. You also have to count that naruto sent out 10k clones out in the battle field too, but beside tha t all nagato need was a summoning and human path to rip it out

Which is my point.. Naruto's soul should have been pulled just as instantaneously and the fact they were dragging it for so long is contradictory to the description of the power of the human path;

I know that he said that but I'd have to disagree even though he said that I don't think he meant literally but rather figuratively as in being a stronger person for staying dedicated to his convictions and not letting his will get bended like his did after the death of yahiko. As for naruto punching and killing him Nagato could have sucked the kyuubi chakra right off him absorbed his rasengans and some cause naruto alone wouldn't have done it i guarantee that it's just unlikely
